Love self help groups, big fan of Sara Knight, what have you read

And did I miss the teacup answer ? Lol
Debt Free Diary - Second Chances! Life in a Tourer........Debt free, building a savings pot
  • I have not read any Sarah knight but I do appreciate the give no f**ks ethos 🤣🤣🤣
Currently am reading Flourishing by Patricia Gaffney and Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards.
I am not sure there is an answer to teacup. Not unless hitting one's mother over the head with an incontinence product when she annoys you is an answer.

Is there a specific question you had in mind sue?

SH I must confess I have been influenced this week by another diary writer's writing style.

  • Teacup has taken it into her head that ahe gets dad up in the morning and this is the way it has always been. So I have been granted an extra half hour for scheming.

Carbs have been eaten in preparation for Strangers In The House.
    Started a list of dad's equipment/aids
    Phoned someone about something
Googled how to dispose of dead animals

The things I find myself googling in this house are ridiculous. I'm sure something probably died in my garden in Scotland at some point but it was likely eaten by another something. Which is the way it should be, circle of life and all that.
In this house... An animal of some kind has managed to fall into an old plastic pond. Which has subsequently frozen over 🤷
And of course this was discovered by the most sensitive member of the household. After a doctor's appointment. 🤦‍♀️
  • It's a black fly in your chardonnay, it's a death row pardon two minutes too late...

It will surprise nobody that it Did Not Go Well. I was thoroughly chastised for saying that Ireland is behind the times. Which was rude tbf. True but rude.
HC manager is One of God's Chosen People. She has been blessed with all of the knowledge from her 21 years of experience and her contacts with Very Senior People in places as far away as England.

I'm just so tired of the bulls**t game playing. Teacup will happily tell people she will slit her wrists if she doesn't get help. I just want to fill in a form, speak to someone within a fortnight, arrange a suitable schedule and have a suitable person turn up to fulfill that schedule.

  • A mad, bad and sad day. I compounded my misery by watching Dispatches: Trapped, Disabled and Abused. I should have known from that title that no good would come of it. It reads like one of those shouty magazines.
Apparently it is ok to say that people in wheelchairs shouldn't be abused. But it is ok to call people with dementia screamers.
F**k you world I don't want to be an advocate. I just want to live in the world where people are capable of thinking about things! You don't need specialist knowledge if you are just capable of perception. No you don't know what services are available. But why don't you know you can Look It Up?!?!?!?!?!?
Or crazy thought, have systems in place where there is a department that monitors changes in whatever the f**k it is you deal with and produces information as a result?

It does sound bad, especially the know-it-all person you got. Just a thought - aren't you under European legislation in Ireland? I seem to remember they have some good stuff in place, might there be anything there that you could use as leverage?
I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

  • Thanks SH and Cherry.
I'm not sure about the leverage, I'll have to look it up. I'm still reeling from yesterday though, hopefully I will get to the gym this morning and feel a bit more on top of things.
Or start playing the lottery in the hopes of being able to pay for care 🤣🤣🤣
  • I am now experiencing trauma whenever I see any large women in long fuzzy coats.
It has taken me until now to put together why what she was saying was so wrong. And not just that it is completely unprofessional to come into someone's house and tell them they have a bad attitude.
Ireland is behind the times. That is my experience as a family carer. It is not her experience as a home care manager. The two things are not the same. My GP doesn't even have the skills to communicate with dad, he just shouts like he is deaf. When I look for activities for Dad to go to, there aren't any because he falls into the Too Difficult category. I can't even take the man into a coffee shop !!!!!!. We can't go anywhere that doesn't have accessible toilets. Dad isn't offered rehabilitation or therapies to prevent skill loss.
Having dementia in 2023 hasn't moved on from dementia in any other decade. Yeah there is more 'awareness' and research but that hasn't translated into service provision.

And completely irrelevant to the topic rant is now over.
I spent a lot of money today. And it was a mostly lovely day. I bought 2 more pot plants in lidl, went to the library and then ran out again when noisy people came in. Does anyone else find it bizarre to be asking for a quiet room on a library?!?
Went to gym and really enjoyed myself. It was a bit busier than I'd like but kept to my plan to stay. Then I went charity shop browsing and home for the rest of my day off. Which I have definitely gotten out of the habit of. I was rearranging my room (yes, again) and kept getting up while I was reading to do bits. In the end I set a timer for 45 minutes to sit and read and rest. I am a numpty.
