  • I think taking the photos is the hardest part KoK! Although they are quite satisfying especially if it has been a few days of tidying.
Just the rest of the house to empty now 🤣🤣🤣
  • Putting this picture here as a permanent reminder of a clean countertop
  • Mood: Throwing my toys out of the pram.

Dad decided he needed to be awake from 1.30 to 5 last night. Thankfully teacup gave me a break this afternoon but as is her wont, went off cos she was done. Without checking to see if I was ok.

The stars were beautiful though at 5am, went to bed thinking about that.

    So far today:

Brought one bag of clothes to the clothes bin.
    Cleaned the counter
Made bread and butter pudding out of leftover cinnamon banana bread.
Put stuff on Olio. The lady who asked for the window vacuum is the helper so might be getting some bread, oranges and custard.

  • End of November all things going well SH. Have done a complete u turn on respite and am now counting down the days (and nights). I still feel awful when I think about dropping him off. Until 3am and then I'd hand him over to Harold Shipman.
  • I understand that feeling. I used to work nights on a dementia ward. The difference is I used to be able to go home, take an antihistamine and sleep through 6-8 hours of the day. Plus I rarely did more than four nights in a row. Respite will be lovely for you, and you shouldn't feel awful because you and your dad both deserve a break.

Definitely need a break then. Not surprising. You have managed brilliantly.

  • Tonight's Olio haul. I offered a window vacuum and the lady collecting it does the tesco collection so I asked for a baguette and a load of finest bread 🤣🤣🤣
  • Felix the Fitbit tells me I slept over 8 hours in total so taking advantage and writing down the stuff that needs a bit more thought.

    No takeaways November 3/30.
So far so good on this one. Was going to get a tea in Costa, decided it was banned and didn't go. Although having to walk across a windy carpark may have been a factor 😁

Minimum viable Dad. Until respite in November I am just doing whatever I can.

Budget. I thought I had done ok on a budget for two months but then realized I had forgotten something. Have now decided to add a Stuff I have Forgotten About line item.

Clearing. I've gone a bit overboard, just cleaning two rooms means the landing and dining room full of stuff. One thing out a day before I do any more.

Vary my day. I keep getting sucked in to big projects which is not what I want to do going forward. It is too black and white and means I end up in the cycle of being drained and sloppy then hyper again. And I forget to do anything else.

Do 5 active zone minutes. I don't really know what these are yet but I said I'd do 3 yesterday and it worked. So I'll try and get 5 today.

  • You forgot to add being kind to yourself. Good enough is good enough, and you have to think about the long-term as well.
