I went back to bed and had a sleep this afternoon and I'm all the better for it. There's nothing wrong and everything right with a day of rest. 😴

Ha I think the coffee I've been having might have had something to do with it.
Pouring rain today, hopefully some of it makes its way to the Cairngorms.

I am so tired today, I'm not sure I have processing energy in me. New boss sent a long email that I couldn't even read I was so spaced out. Initial thoughts (in no particular order)
Weirded out by the slow pace of everything- we actually sat down and didn't do work. It was strange not be constantly on the move and feeling like I'm behind.
Residents are older and more infirm than I expected.
Colleagues were nice but maybe a bit tiring.
No night time routines written down- not something I like. But also its a small home and they've all been there for years so fair enough.
I had more thoughts, but this week and last have wiped me out. Been drinking way too much coffee.
Right now I'm conflicted- I don't seem to be able to get my head in order.

Rest on it and thoughts will emerge. Have a relaxing evening, and well done you for being brave and productive in getting into new workplace! 🥂

Wise words @PennysIntoPounds .
You could always write your own manual for routines, @WelshmansDaughter , but you will probably get past needing them very soon. I agree though - it's good practice to have it down in writing.

I would insist on knowing the procedures for adverse incident reporting. I’m not sure I’d be comfortable working somewhere where this wasn’t available in writing.

Something popped into my head first thing this morning - I get that they were eager to employ quickly to ensure cover, and you mentioned they have already asked for references, but it's not enough time for police checks. I'd be concerned that they aren't taking enough care to protect their residents (which of course is not casting nasturtiums on you, but in the years I worked in care, there were a couple of times when 'the wrong' people got through the net, and a net with big holes is more likely to let people through).
With your background in caring, you are probably in a good position to ask the questions that need to be asked - but perhaps make a note of those things as they occur to you and raise them when you know where you stand, as at the moment you have plenty to be coping with.
Edited to add - of course, I may have lost track of how long it's been since you applied. Time keeping isn't my strong point.
Are you working both jobs or did you give the other one up?
