Wow!
But what did you say to them? Is it somewhere you think you'd like to work? And why is the post vacant, why did the last person leave?

That's great, well done 🥂
But yeah as @Cherryfudge said much more nicely, do check you're not jumping out of frying pan into fire!

I think perhaps they are having difficulty recruiting. But also my recommendation came from the daughter of someone on the board 🤣
As ever this is an experiment. There are two outcomes I am testing- it won't be an option at all, it will be an option as a source of income.

The smoke from the Cairngorms wildfire reached us yesterday from 87 miles away. Work was a tad smelly and hot in the afternoon. My plan had been to do some gardening but the smoke was worse in the evening. I have a strawberry plant to put in- I panic bought it on Thursday because I was determined to get something for the garden after dragging the boys out to the garden centre. Although bless them, they're great in a garden centre- they charm all the ladies of a certain age. Two rows of potatoes are likely coming out and I need a rethink of what to do with the space. Its been a very experience based learning situation in the garden. In some ways I think being forced to slow down (and do very little) has been good for me.

The fire sounds huge and very worrying: everything is so dry. I hope we all get rain soon.
My few strawberry plants have suffered despite me trying to keep them watered. Are the potatoes coming out because they aren't doing well, or you just don't like them where they are? There's always the option just to leave them and they will eventually die down then come up next year as new plants! Sometimes, of course, they do this despite having been harvested. 😊

I have three rows of potatoes, two rows are ready to harvest and I'm leaving one row. The red duke of York variety are a bit earlier than expected but I've harvested some already and they were nice. I do have a number of 'surprise' potatoes in the garden as well, the ones I thought were rotted through and went on the compost have come up as thriving plants 🤣 Of course they are now surrounded by blackberry…
I did think after I'd planted them that I wouldn't do it the same way again, the rows are too long and too close together.
ETA The smoke seems to have gone and the weather is cooler. We are due rain so fingers crossed it helps.

You can definitely tell it's shark week by my YouTube algorithm. All brain rotting stuff like red flag videos and memes. I did start out with some value stuff but hit a stuck point. I also made a random meal plan with Google Gemini which I might try this week or next.
Need a nice documentary or something to watch to soothe my poor raging brain.
Turns out new job has asked for a reference from current employer which led to a slightly awkward conversation in which I flat out lied that I wasn't thinking of leaving 🤣

You're allowed to have thought differently in the meantime! And you'll have probably have seen the relevant person by the time the person who receives it and passes it on to person who reads it and gives reference, gets it
We recently remembered the Agatha Christie adaptations on iplayer and thoroughly enjoyed a two part series, if that's up your street

Interesting- I don't have a TV license PiP so I'll keep the recommendation for when I'm at my sister's.
Seeing as I am sitting here quietly looking up words in the OED and Onelook, I thought to myself I'll go for a language documentary.

Having a bed day today, feeling overwhelmingly tired. I'm annoyed by it as I had stuff I wanted to do today and instead I'm reading and watching YouTube shorts.
It has rained which is good. There was a hint of smoke in the air this morning.
