Sending hugs for the sadness. I don't want to badmouth your sister but she does seem really mean sometimes. Obviously you wouldn't be petty and not see the nephews, but I bet she'd do her nut if you stopped helping out.
I agree with @Cheery_Daff, if you have a little left in the budget get yourself a pumpkin. If you can't be bothered to faff with cooking it, get yourself a poundland mug with a cute pumpkin on it or somesuch, for snuggly wholesome at-home time.
Room rearranging sounds fantastic, as does realisation about treating yourself well with meal planning.
Hope you have a very lovely evening out 🍻

I never actually get a pumpkin myself funnily enough. I liked the event because it is one where I can just go and take cute pictures. Birthdays and Christmas I find quite stressful with all the decision making and needing to have money etc. I'm usually quite tense.
I don't think it's mean so much as thoughtless. She is very limited in many ways both in circumstances (high pressure job, sick kids etc) and her understanding of the world. She, in her own words, is a doer not a thinker.
I am torn. I read a few weeks ago that you shouldn't keep score in relationships you want to keep and maybe that is what I could try to live by.
I am very tired today which is not helping. The wind is howling outside and I have been eating like a teenage boy thanks to a slight hangover. I did really enjoy going out last night, it was nice to see everyone.
I've been pottering about making adjustments to the room space. It is slightly concerning how little food I have. Although probably a bonus at the moment as I have no idea where I'm going to put anything.

I'm pleased you enjoyed last night! I hope the head has cleared now.
I read your sister's behaviour as possibly thoughtless, though without knowing her that was just an option. I wouldn't want to be an action person who doesn't think - a bit of both is useful. Perhaps she'll grow into it. Meanwhile, when the storm stops, you could still do a pumpkin photoshoot for your own pleasure, then do some sketches or something. They could look lovely and you would have got something pleasant out of the disappointment.
Possibly all you need for food supplies is a cardboard box and some tins, pasta, cereal, hot chocolate… enough to tide you over for a few days if you're unwell or the weather is evil. Then you put a lid on it and pretend it's a little table.
Oh, and HM Gvmt would like you to add some bottles of water, but don't overthink what goes in your stores. Just buy two of the above when you remember and see where that gets you.

Glad you had a nice time out, good for the soul innit.
The thought about not keeping score in relationships you want to keep is a good one, but also remember that you're a valuable human being with valid feelings so don't let a supposedly wholesome outlook make you feel like your sadness and rejection is just 'one of those things' or that you deserve it. You're quite right to feel really put out, I would and I'm sure all of us would!

So this week took a very unexpected turn. I can't really say what the drama was but it was Drama with a capital D. Tbh I don't think it has really sunk in either. I've been sleeping poorly this week so just doing the bare minimum and not got much energy to spare.
It has done my anxiety wonders though. As I think it has finally sunk in that it is pointless being afraid of things that might happen when crazy stuff that I never would have anticipated happening is happening.
Needless to say both money and eating have been all over the place. I spent £72 on a BBC maestro annual membership today, I had been eyeing it up and it went on sale so I thought I would try it.

Oh dear - not nice. Just keep swimming, as they say. I think you're absolutely right about the thing we dread not being the thing that happens. At least that's been my experience.
I hope things settle down in a good way.
The BBC maestro membership sounds like a good thing to get involved with. Let us know how it goes!
