And now it is Sunday evening. I'm sitting at my sister's house having faithfully promised my nephew that yes I am sleeping here. He told me last week that he wished I didn't have a home so I could sleep here always. A bit dark sounding but sweet.

Weekend took an odd turn, youngest nephew wound up in the assessment unit at the children's hospital. So I was there until 9 in the evening. I then went back at 9am to bring food as they hadn't given the baby breakfast 🤷 And stayed and then went to their house as I promised oldest nephew. Money wise a tad expensive as I brought food both times. Hospital is not a time for budgeting. Baby home now at least and hopefully a plan in place (eczema).

Plenty of water being produced by the dehumidifier. I had to empty it after the second time I turned it on. Plan had been to rearrange and clean my room today but that didn't happen obviously. Ideally I'd like to make it easier to keep clean but as yet no design has presented itself.

That's sweet of your nephew! I hope the little one is more comfortable now, and you all get a good night's rest.

Having an extra adult to talk to / run errands / keep people in touch with real life is a game changer when waiting around in hospital.

I suspect Cherry, that his need for me to sleep here is closely correlated to his need to have an adult who will turn the TV on in the morning 🤣 Auntie does not do talking at 7am.

Realised this morning that I packed a toothbrush and paste in case I ended up at sisters. Did not however pack clean underwear. Oh well at least I was thinking in the right direction.

Today is my second last Monday at the coalface. 8 days to go.

Early morning TV can be a big help! I remember it from mine being little - or put a jigsaw or a train track out. Definitely not the time to do talking.

Could you leave a grab bag at your sister's, with overnight stuff and a change of clothes for the next day?

I'm debating between leaving stuff there and having a little pack of stuff here to put in my bag.

Between one thing and another it has been a spendy few days. I needed butter but couldn't face stopping on the way home and ended up grocery shopping on deliver00. At £35 that was some dang expensive butter 🤣 Had a random craving for ice-cream out of nowhere and ended up getting strawberry doughnut Ben and Jerry's.

I also went a bit mad on the 85p kindle books, must have bought 6. I did get a Georgette Heyer from the library and really enjoyed reading a actual paperback.

Full day of work tomorrow which I am not looking forward to. Finish one at 16.30 then start the next at 17.30.

Ended up enjoying the work shift, even if I did hide in the kitchen for most of it.

Tried to pay twice yesterday with my phone even after realising my account had switched to the new bank 🤦‍♂️ Scary how automatic it is. I also woke up to several emails politely requesting payment for various things so perhaps could have timed the switch a tad better. All amended now and have saved myself £5 on my monthly phone bill ha.

Hopefully will be more organised when I finish at RM and have time and headspace to sort things. We are down into the lasts now- today is my second last Wednesday there. The countdown begins in earnest tomorrow.

A timely reminder for me to complete the switch!

One day down, 5 more to go. May have told manager it was only my own sense of decency keeping me there. Somebody else has called in sick for the rest of their notice period. It's become a personal challenge to see if I can do it lol.

And the official countdown begins. Today is my very last Friday at RM. And I am working with the one person I have happily avoided working with in the whole two years I've been there 🤦‍♂️

So much drama this week that I've decided that next week will be a quiet one. I won't take any shifts and there's no childcare as they're away.

I'm off to look up books on emotional regulation in children 🤦‍♂️ Eldest nephew has been In Trouble at school.

I have no idea if it's what you need but I came across one called 'Tiny Humans, Big Emotions' by Alyssa Blask Campbell & Lauren Stauble.
