Well I figured if I'm doing 9 hours of work in 6 hours as a postie, then I'm much more likely to be better off with virtually anything else 🤣🤣🤣

Back to work this morning for a rest from life lol.

Have sent a brief CV in response to a job I saw on a noticeboard so I hope something comes from that. Although it is a positive thing that I managed something in the morning before work in itself.

That being said it's lucky I don't have a printer at home or is be walking in with my notice letter in my bag 🤣

You've achieved a huge amount sticking with this job for so long. I don't expect many people would manage it. Something better is bound to come along.

I have a surprising number of colleagues whose length of service can be measured in decades, Cherry 🤷

If there were flexible options available I do think I would consider staying there as it is not a bad job. But the hours can't be changed really and working consistently five days is not really an option for me.

Goodness, there must be some tough people around! What are they doing that makes it possible for them to keep up the pace?

I would struggle with five days, though a bit of me would like to be working more. I get tired enough on my five and a half hour day!

Well as one colleague said 'you get in a rut 🤣' and he has been in that rut for 34 years 🤦‍♂️

First day back done, can't say I particularly enjoyed myself walking about in the rain. I was quite quickly reminded of all the things that are frustrating: lack of toilets, hunger and stairs.

I do remind myself that I like being able to pay my bills.

Anything powdery discourages ants - even cornstarch and baby powder. Coffee grounds work also especially around ant hills. Boiling water kills them.

Have scanned 33 books for the princely sum of £21.83 but decided to stop there for the night. The last book scanned was called The Blessings of a Good Thick Skirt if anyone needs further confirmation that I cannot be trusted when in a charity bookshop.

The amount of sugar I have consumed has been motivating indeed and not only did I start scanning books I also emptied a whole bag instead of walking past it. This had the very welcome bonus of supplying the sewing kit I had thought I owned. As well as the plastic zip up bags I can now use for my EDC.

I had thought to go into the garden and start emptying the utility room but lacked the physical energy for that. I am feeling the effects of working again unfortunately. And after the investigation into the magical moving postbox I am not inclined to put up with it for much longer.

I also seem to have inadvertently stolen three books from the library thanks to the vagaries of the self scan machine.
