I hope you get your rest, it sounds as though you need it. Perhaps do a bit of research and choose yourself some things you'd like to plant for next year, or even stick 'em in a bit late this year. If I didn't do exactly that, I'd get nothing planted. As it is, the mega-late planting of daffodils (rescued in the sales last year but not planted till February) are coming along nicely, and last year's late planting of daffodils (from the year before) are blooming beautifully even if they reached the same point stupendously late last year.

Another thing you might have fun with is the free plants you can get from sprouted potatoes, lemon pips, seeds scooped out of tomatoes (though these are often not the best varieties for northern UK) and so forth. I'm sure you know plenty without me listing them.

I do find the climate can sabotage plans and good gardening intentions every bit as well as I can do it myself, so don't kick yourself for not planting or any other jobs. You have made progress, and that is commendable.

And yay! for the free bookcase! Both in terms of saving it and in terms of usefulness.

Incidentally - raspberry and custard doughnut - oh yes. My two favourite doughnut flavours together. If I can't have it, at least you did. 😊

I was rather gloomy yesterday and this morning. Have taken myself off to my sister's for the night, partly to avoid the 5am start of Thursday but also to escape the living in one giant to do list that is my flat.

Am feeling better after some vitamin C and a hot shower.

Some work to do on my emotional state but that can wait until I've had a recharge.

I am indeed making notes for next year, this year is experimental and trying to bring together the elements of previous attempts. As well as actually learning how to have hobbies.

And we are now looking at a late summer garden 🤣

Took myself to my sister's on Wednesday afternoon and had a lazy couple of hours in front of the TV. They are a distant memory now 🤣 Woke up after a poor night's sleep to the news that oldest nephew has chicken pox. Poor wee man is covered in spots although that did not have any noticeable effect on his energy level- cycled for blooming ages this morning. Think it has hit him now though.

I'm staying tonight and probably tomorrow night to help out. I'll play it by ear.

I should really start coming on here every day and just writing ordinary days, nothing happened. Honestly it just looks like I'm lurching from mishap to mishap.

Now if you'll excuse me I have psycho somatic itching to scratch.

Day 2 of the chicken pox diaries 🤣

A flip was switched and poor nephew was taken over last night by the vile lurgy. Not very energetic today at all.

Smallest nephew found himself alone in a room after the door swung closed. Apparently in his head this was akin to being abandoned on the hillside to be swept away by eagles. My ears are still ringing. Cue crying rage every time I was more than a foot away.

Break time and I let loose in a mild way in the farm shop. Back in the overdraft again, hopefully be more successful with mystery shop next week or one appears locally.

I am benefiting from being here, in a sort of holiday home with a job way. There's always food I don't have to buy, comfortable rooms and really nice scenery. Grateful for that.

Holiday of any type always good for a refresh. Sounds like you've been doing sterling work, though get outta that overdraft pronto lady! 😁

Nah that sense of urgency is gone, seeing sick babas puts things in perspective. Child looks like someone tried to put holes in him.

Another tiring but somehow satisfying day. Have convinced nephew that he is a cheetah. Sadly the cheetah doesn't want his cream any more than the boy does.

£3.50 spent on a brownie on way back from morning walk with the boys. Lady was very nice and brought it to the door as I was outside with the boys in prams while my BIL was in shop. Regretted it though it was far too big.

The time over here has been a bit of a break despite everything. I'm giving serious thoughts to registering as a childminder.

I love that you are babysitting a cheetah! Poor DGD2 was just covered when she had chicken pox, it's miserable.

What would be the logistics of being a childminder? Where would you work from, how many hours, what training is needed etc? You do seem to thrive on being with the boys, but it's also tiring!

Refreshed after my break 🤣 I have started back in the garden. Blisters and carb loading later my veg plot is starting to take shape. Who knows maybe my brain will actually let me plant something now 🤣🤣🤣

Mystery shop X3 yesterday which will hopefully be £25 back in the pot. Potentially doing another one tomorrow but it is dreadful so might not.

Considering a shed for the garden so I have somewhere to go that is finished and not stressful.
