  • This weekend was earmarked for Small One's birthday. It was a wise decision not to try and do anything else. Presents and lunch out yesterday, farm visit this morning. Although all he wants to do this morning is go on his new bike bless him.
Some sort of money generation is needed this month (and last month and next month). I'm due to go on holiday with family on Friday and wanted to get shifts in before I went only none were to be had. Part of me is glad as there was a near meltdown on Friday due to fatigue and crappy eating. But it does mean that I am very short. In height and pocketbook.
LB is due to start nursery and Sister Act goes back to work in August. So June and July I want to prioritise family time as I won't get as much once everyone is on the merry go round. This means I need to figure out income. But also rest and keeping on with flat work so I can ease back into my own life.
  • Attempted to leave the house. Got overwhelmed.
Ended up having a half awake half asleep nap.
Out for a bike ride. Went to library.
    Totally rejuvenated after bike ride.

Glad the bike ride did you good.

Good your little nephews are keeping you on your toes too.

Good luck with making incremental progress on the garden and flat. One day you will look up and it will be done.

  • Yesterday was a strange old day. I was definitely overstimulated after the previous week culminating in the birthday weekend. I enjoyed myself a lot at the farm but that is the frustrating thing about autism. It doesn’t matter if you’re enjoying yourself or it’s something you want to do.
I wasn’t able to get shifts this week as they were all booked for the days I could do. We’re on holiday from Friday. I’ll try and get some re-centre time while we’re away.

    Enjoy your time away!

I'm sorry you couldn't get shifts, but perhaps that frees up time for other things?

I'm finding a similar thing with ADHD - I self-sabotage by struggling to apply myself to things even when it's something I like and want to get stuck into! It's like repelling magnets: I can watch it happen to myself and the knowledge doesn't stop the mechanism kicking in.

For me, having quiet mornings really helps (I suspect with both the ADHD and the autism) as it lets me ease my way into the day and it's less of a challenge to do things in the afternoon. You seem to be much more a morning person that I am, though, so your work-around may be different.

  • I am generally mentally absent in the afternoons. If I could sleep I would. But that is probably just due to my current lifestyle which is lets face it, missing vitality. I like the small people and living here is more convenient than my own place. And you know has sanitation and cooking facilities. But it should be a smaller part of my time allocation.
I do need to book hours for after the holiday but can't seem to organise my thoughts in such a way that it all makes sense. My mind is so very rarely peaceful these days.
This morning involved helping Sister Act take things to the tip. Including two year old garden waste. Smelled like silage until I got home. Lovely. Earning my keep for sure.

You sure are! I hope you got rid of the smell!

Does it help at all to imagine what advice you would give to someone else in your situation? Or do you keep some sort of diary apart from on here? When I book shifts I look ahead to the next week so I know where there are gaps, but I also know to allow down time between activities. I find it helps to have things written down.

Maybe if afternoon is your 'not with it' time, you could plan around doing least then, but I think you have 12 hour shifts, don't you? Which makes things different, so perhaps give yourself a day or two between shifts.

Sadly I have not woken up to the news that I have won the lottery despite my best efforts.
I have made a list of what needs to be done today. It includes make a list (packing) which gives me joy.

Shifts are generally 8 hours Cherry. There were twelves available for a specific reason but that specific reason has now exited the building. Ahem.

ETA something which has now been forgotten.

  • Enjoying myself immensely this morning, folding clothes into packing cubes.
