That's brilliant, well done you!
And from a day when you weren't feeling your most engaged
And it sounds like it's come at the right time if you're feeling like it's a natural time to get back to your flat and sort finances out.
If it would be helpful you could post a mini SOA here so your mates could make suggestions, but we're all cheering you on anyway. Really pleased for you that you'll have some regular income without it being from too long shifts that can become overly tiring or stressful. Hope you're raising a glass of one of your fancy pants wines to yourself this evening 😁 😊2 -
Well done - as PIP says, especially well done given what day your interview was. Do you have a starting date?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Thanks all. I've just sent the paperwork back today so not quite at start date stage yet.
I have a non fancy pants wine PiP does that count?
I was looking at the SOA the other day funnily enough. I haven't filled one in though.
My trouble isn't really that I don't know how to budget or even that I don't know how to make money. I know how to cut my expenses to the minimum. What I don't know is how to live a meaningful life. Without that context or philosophy or strategy behind it, I'm just going to keep getting on the same train as it were.
My aim is very simple. It's to build on what I've already done. Not a fancy pants mission statement but it works.
At the moment I'm going through all my digital storage (that I can remember/use) and sorting it all to hopefully fill in the blanks. It's been a bit of heartache so far as I've been going though spreadsheets from 14 years ago where I still have the same ideas. I do feel like I don't really remember my history well enough to learn from it.2 -
I find I can get lost in the rabbit hole of the past and forget to make a life... Making a life today is more rewarding than gazing at the past.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

All wine is fancy 😁
You're doing great, your spreadsheets being samey don't reflect how much over that time you've survived and been a brilliant daughter and carer and how much mental and physical work you've done to keep vaguely sane and keep your flat which is such an asset and has scope for whatever you want it to be whenever you want to. And that your ideas are the same shows that you have a much stronger sense of self and aims than you give yourself credit for!2 -
It happened to me too - I feel I have gotten lost somewhere as I got older and need to find what makes a meaningful life. I have to take care of everyone else around me - and not me. It has taken all of my time and what little strength I have left. I have been reviewing the lists I made years ago to see if I have accomplished any of the things I set off to do. There are about 6 books done at different times over about 30 years. So much I can't do any more. I am combining the lists into a RL (RealLife) Bucket List to see what I can accomplish this year. And letting a lot of things go.3

Continued working on various things today. Had a happy moment this morning when I was able to get up and do something different to my usual routine.
Much of this is computer based and quite frankly headache inducing if I do it for too long so I've been taking random breaks. Usually watching Little Bulldog. We sometimes go for a walk in the morning for an hour or so.
This is more of a review in nature as my aim is to build on what I have already done but haven't been able to stick to. It's about developing a context. I know what I want to do but I don't generally know why. This evening's research has included Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, Activities of Daily Living and Tiago Forte's Second Brain.
In other news, I have bought a bedframe, to be collected tomorrow. I haven't scheduled putting it together. One thing at a time.1 -
Well done for getting the bedframe! One thing at a time.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Yay for getting bedframe, and quite right, one thing at a time.
I have a permanent grudge against Maslow's hierarchy of needs as it doesn't start with 'don't have a chronic pain condition so you can actually do any of the basic things let alone aspire to further up' *Insert grumpy unimpressed face emoji here*2
