Best of luck with the interview. Notes definitely help for that kind of thing.

Strangely enough, I've just advised a friend to have a list of things she's done in her jobs as they come to mind. She tends to say 'I haven't done this', not realising that even doing whatever it was briefly a long time ago still allows her to say she's done whatever it was. I suspect she really undersells what she can do. The other thing is that having it written down means it's still there when you need to fill in a form, you aren't dependent on memory.

  • I had the DWP Incapacity assessment phone call today- couldn't tell you how it went. I got a phone call warning me in advance that they were going to phone at a particular time which was nice. The Dr person was really nice as well. I don't want to be assessed as long term incapable for work and I think that came across in what I was saying.
I did also get a phone call for going in to meet the people for a relief care job. Annoyingly it is for Thursday which I can't do this week as Sister Act needs help with the Small Ones. I dunno if any other ASD peeps do this but I found it really difficult to say no I couldn't make it that time. Which is something I need to work on.
Today is the six month anniversary of Dad's death so I have just taken some walks to the sea. With that and the dread phone call it is safe to say brain is fried.
Off to have a bath now.

  • Well done on the phone calls, sounds like you managed well and things are progressing in the right direction.
Walks to the sea and a bath sound like good self care.
Thoughts are with you on this anniversary x

Well done on the phone call.

I find holding boundaries difficult - and saying no - as I offend people by accident too easily I think it has kind of scarred me!

Hugs on the anniversary. Walking by the sea sounds therapeutic. My brain would have been totally fried too.

I think it's often hard to say no. Perhaps we are socialised into being compliant and we feel saying no somehow widens the gap between us and other people, but everyone needs boundaries.

    Hugs for the anniversary.

  • This week has ended up being rather more volatile than I had planned. No sooner was one looming appointment dispatched and the rumination brain balloon popped then another appointment was scheduled for next week. This one is for a potential job though.
I am fried. Two days in a row helping out with the Small Ones, one of whom decided to pee on me. Was mildly chastised for taking Very Small One out of the house while Momma Bear was sleeping. I knew she wouldn't like it but I was so fed up of being cooped up in the house. This week has been a burdensome week family and friend wise. I keep getting entangled in conversations and running out of communication energy. I feel a vow of silence coming on.
Other than that not much news to report. I plan to start emptying out the room that is to be the kitchen tomorrow, I'm back in my own flat now and not willing to live such a basic life anymore. It has been a learning experience and perhaps stripping back to basics has helped.

I appreciate the kind wishes for Dad. My next grief project will be a memory book, once I pick out what photos I want to print. And maybe once I don't live in so much of a dump.

It sounds full-on, little ones can do that to you regardless of any other issues you have going on, and little ones plus other stuff - no wonder you are retreating to peace and quiet.

Are you still getting out and about and drawing things? Those seemed to help earlier, or was that me willing them to help?

  • As @Cherryfudge says, that sounds blooming exhausting even if you weren't grieving and dealing with an important anniversary. Take as much time as you need away from family and others. It sounds really encouraging that your focus is now on making your home feel homely for you 😊
