Very Very Small One has returned from his sojourn in hospital. He and I spent some time together this afternoon during which we discussed council tax and the wisdom of spitting up all over your aunt's jumper. He did not feel that he deserved to be put down and accessorised with a purple stuffed octopus so that aunt could take photos.
I have started the money project by writing down my categories and putting the numbers in. I have annoyed myself by being law abiding and buying a tv license. It is now inevitable that everything I want to watch will not be on iPlayer. Although I do have the joy of Sort Your Life Out.
It is one of my pet hates that we supposedly have unlimited possibilities with online capabilities and yet all the entertainment options are little more than your local blockbuster.
Next on the agenda is to write down all the potential scenarios.
There is no assessment of my options at this stage (except possibly for October expenses) I'm just filling in the blanks so I don't have to try and hold too much information in my head.
I haven't been working this week so no income. I do have a job interview for a relief job booked on Halloween. So when I don't get it I can blame witchcraft 🤣🤣🤣

Relieved to hear the little one is out of hospital and back to usual baby shenanigans.
Don't rush on the money plan. Maybe think about what you are trying to achieve from your space. What kind of activities you need/want to do in it. And what is the minimum you need to do to help make that happen. You sound like you are moving from struggling with too much stuff to the other side of the pendulum and wanting to be more minimal. Does that mean you like your possessions visible or hidden?
I could PM you some links to some utubes and books that helped me if you'd like?Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Good to hear VVSO's back! And well done on writing stuff down. And good on you for avoiding the nasty TV detector van.
Sometimes there are more important things than work (like this week), but congrats on getting an interview.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Today had an agenda which started out with a mere three items. I was out on the bike and enjoying myself so much I wound up all over the place, looking in the charity shop (where I bought a warm shirt which came in very handy) then off to the beach for second breakfast then around to the library... One agenda item didn't get done as the pharmacy was closed (on a Saturday afternoon?!) I did however manage to get agenda items from other days done. Sadly almost all involved spending money. I am now the owner of warm boots which may have been a tad impulsive as they are safety boots, big clunky things. But you know what, it is nice to just buy something without thinking of all the angles and ending up with nothing at all. And they were 8.99 so I will be able to throw them away if necessary after one winter.
It is hard shopping- I keep seeing things I would have bought for Dad. Even now looking for woolly socks I'm thinking to myself what does Dad need for winter.
I am back in my own flat. I hadn't really planned to leave sister's but I hadn't really planned to stay either. I realised today that it was one of those things where I was trying to tell myself that I needed a break and to get some time to myself.
Friend has a flat that is now empty so I have said I will keep an eye on it. She has told me to go over and use it while she figures out what she is doing so I will probably nip over when I can stand the thought of packing up stuff again. It was funny I had been thinking about her flat as I visited once before and it is a really peaceful space. But I was there today and I realised I don't want that as I think I wouldn't get anything done.5 -
That sounds like a really productive day. Safety boots are never a bad investment, one can't do anything mse if suffering from the result of something being less safe.
I'm sure your Dad would very much appreciate you thinking about his sock and other needs! Seasons changing are often poignant when we've lost a loved one, and you're doing so well going through all these firsts and adjustments.
Good on you for investing in a warm shirt, especially from a charity shop- it's definitely got to the stage of year to make sure one has adequate layering options!
That's a really healthy realisation about needing time on your own, and about your friends flat, we all have our own needs for what sort of space gets us out of bed in the morning. How nice to have a different space you can spend time in for a while though2 -
It sounds like a lovely day, and nice to have the option of borrowing your friend's flat too.
I know just how you feel about buying for your Dad. My parents have been gone a long time and I still think of things to buy them or news to tell them. I wonder if a bit of a donation to a charity they supported might be an idea? I gave something 'on Mum's behalf' early on, and that felt right. I don't know if that's something that would work as a way of kind of giving a gift for your Dad?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I realized today that the shirt I bought is a dead ringer for the one my 80 year old neighbour wears 🤷
I'm a bit sour on charities these days Cherry, I think I just feel let down by the ones that were supposed to help Dad and then there don't seem to be any to help me.
If I was donating it'd be to YouTube as that's where most of my help comes from 🤣🤣🤣
November first is All Souls Day so I thought I might read up on that and do something then.
Had one of those days where I tried to relax and rest and wound up just feeling jittery. Did make it all the way to aldi though for dinner supplies.2 -
LOL about the shirt - it's all in how you style it, though.
Fair enough about the charities - YouTube is brilliant.
A lot of churches have a special All Souls service either online or in the building if that's a way that would help mark the day. Some will still have last year's up on YouTube if you wanted to preview to see whether it would be right for you.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I need my own space - although it is nice sometimes if I can retreat elsewhere - but I tend to prefer it if I am still on my own... which doesn't really fit with society's mould.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
