I'm not sure what to make of this really. Applied to switch an old Nationwide account to my existing Club Lloyds, due to switch on 31st. I got the text confirming switch date, a "sorry you're leaving" letter from Nationwide and £125 incentive paid into the Lloyds account last Friday. On Monday, like others have mentioned, I received a text saying sorry your switch can't go through and call this (incorrect) number.
Given what I'd read on here about the bank holiday and similar happening to others I've left it but checking today and the switch hasn't gone through.
Now, I'm not actually bothered if the switch goes through or not, it's a dormant account used for the Nationwide switch earlier this year.  I only did it for the incentive but, I'm wondering if it may go through later or they my try to claw back the incentive if it doesn't.  Am I unique or does anyone have a similar experience?

Does anyone know if I can switch to them and then downgrade the account to one that doesn't have to pay fees?

Yes you can but if you pay in £1500 per month then the fee is waived although you keep the perks of the account.

Once the incentive has been paid there is no requirement to keep the account. You can downgrade to the fee-free classic account, or switch away if that's what you want to do

Same for my wife's switch from TSB, incentive paid then a text and two days later the TSB account is still open.

I had similar with a switch from Metro to another bank (can't remember which) and received the incentive but the Metro bank was not closed.

I only ever do switches for the incentive so haven't bothered to call the respective banks to question it.

I had the same.  I called the Lloyds switch team on 31st after having a text on 30th saying my switch couldn’t progress and to call them. Number given was for Halifax / BOS switches.  I found Lloyds number online. After ages on hold I was told it was due to an IT mess up because they hadn’t planned the workload properly due to the bank holiday and loads of switches weren’t going through / people were having to call in. Staff member was apologetic and said it could all have been a wooded if they’d just done a bit of planning / thought about things.  He rearranged the switch so will see if it goes through this time.   I’d already got the £125 but thought they may try and take back if switch didn’t happen so rearranged.  Not a great start !

Switch dates due 8th June, but Lloyds have paid the £125 in my account and my father's (date stamped as 6th). Easy switches. Easy money.
  • I opened a Starling current account specifically for switching to an existing Club Lloyds account.
It appears to be on track.
Now received upwards of £500 in the last few months from these incentives. Still £50 later this year from NatWest for staying with them.

I completed the switch form whilst logged in on my PC. Closing an old BoS account. Switch is due to complete on 15th and have had text messages to say it is going through but I just wanted to check if others completed the switch without using the link on Lloyds home page (for the £125 incentive) and still got the £125?
I'd tried using the link without logging in first on several occasions but it kept failing to go through.

I'm hoping it shouldn't make a difference as long as you meet the T's & C's which i have.

    Thanks

Brilliant! The only account I can switch to this is my Ulster account, but I'm waiting for the switch bonus on that to pay on the 24th June, guess I'll be starting the switch for this on the 25th June, which should be fine according to the terms.
This is my plan also. Haven't heard a peep from Ulster Bank about this.

Assuming they'll leave it to the last minute before paying out.
