@bouicca21, I usually lightly poach smoked haddock in a pan of milk & water, with bay leaves & juniper berries. I'll do that whether it's going into a kedgeree or, like last night, being eaten as individual steaks with a sauce. It would have been kedgeree (and thus been spread amongst 5, rather than 3) had Dd1 & her boyfriend been eating with us, but they went off to his place instead. I always get the naturally-coloured fish, not the dyed stuff; the poaching liquid can also be used to cook the rice for kedgeree, or as a fishy stock.Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)6

Ta. I did it in milk like my mum did (only she used the yellow smoking solution fish). Maybe I did it too long. Had some while I was away and it was delish. Maybe poach in water, maybe microwave?4

I always steam my smoked haddock in water and then use some of the water to cook the rice. I don't even simmer it! I just add it to the pan and then cover with boiling water and put a lid on and let it steam for about 8 minutes. Remove from water, remove skin and flake. Once the rice is nearly cooked I add some frozen peas for the last few minutes and add the haddock back in for a couple of minutes to warm through.

Stuck to my meal plan fairly well. Just went a bit topsy turvy by Wed/Thur when I allocated rooted/but roots cut off potatoes to wedges on wed (sticking to meal plan) soup instead on Thursday lunch time. I also donated a baked potato and this soup...'Pea and ham' (bacon and mushy peas) lasted two lunches. So not too bad.
This meant the meal of baked spud and tuna on Thurs was changed to a freezer meal of cottage pie. Fri became another freezer meal of A*da chilli's sausages with parsnip. carrot and potato mash. I opened a tin of beans to go with. Half of them are still in fridge for Sunday breakfast.
Tonight (Saturday.. I am having, what I think should have been Fridays meal).. easy pizza after a few beers like a fakeaway.
Have a shop coming which should have come today, but had to sort out bank card didn't go through...
Anyway...Upshot is the meal plan is less than clear... but off the top of my head assuming shopping comes although in all fairness I did think about this meal plan last week when I checking my stocks... Just depends if I have eaten some of it already
Mon- chicken, noodles and veg. There should be fajita frozen veg coming which I thought sounded nice and handy to have in freezer
Tue - pasta bolognaise no doubt will be enough for additional meals especially if I use lentils too
wed- rice and trout
Thur- Left over spag bol
Fri home made pizza ( as in dealing with pizza dough mix)- i may need to keep some pasta sauce for the base I know it is probably not the right thing to use but as said I was making this menu with the stock I have in
Sat/Sun I am off to ex's to look after our guinea pigs he looks after but is away for weekend. I'll raid his kitchen5 -
Sometimes think it would be good to write each meal plan on a magnet and then move them around on the refrigerator door as needed. Everything gets changed so often.7

@K9sandFelines I don't think it's really necessary to specify what days each meal will be eaten on! There is no reason why your meal plan can't just be a list of the meals you intend to cook/get out from freezer/eat for the week. I know this is how some people meal plan which can be useful for when other plans change.
Although I write my meal plan as a daily plan it isn't written in stone and often gets moved around but we do tend to eat the meals planned for that week although occasionally plans change completely so we end up with having a meal out or at friends.7
