NSD 9 done. Yesterday was pretty spendy.
First thing, I moaned online about losing my mug in a train station. And someone was due to go to a gig in that town and couldn't so I got offered the tickets! Free! I went and had an amazing time. But even free is expensive when you spend hours in a hot stadium and need a drink. My pots of savings are a little depleted by those spends and the new car we needed to buy. But, I got in a 27K step day and some fantastic memories!
The new car is very fuel efficient, so we should save a fair bit there. Lots of toing and froing sorting out funeral stuff. Exhausting!
Just had a subscription go out that wasn't in my planner (it is now) - it's the premium Avast, which is antivirus software plus hardware optimizer. Probably didn't really need it, but I have it now.
Had a lovely bath bomb from my Christmas stash and have been listening to a library audiobook - Raynor Winn's The Salt Path about a couple who lose everything and walk around the coast of Cornwall to pace out the time before they can get somewhere to live, having been told they weren't a priority even though the husband has been given a terminal diagnosis. Very well written. So sad. Makes you feel very annoyed at the cruelty and judginess of people.Keep reading books!
August grocery challenge budget £150, £90.14 spent in total - £59.86 remaining.7 -
May review so far - even though I am sort of on budget, I am running out of cash in my bank account, but I ahve got fuel, and pretty much a full car, so will manage till next friday - 6 days to go but unforutnately also bills still to go out.
The problem is I had a student stay and the money I was paid, went into my ISA instead of my current account. This is a bit of a problem, but I think I will just have to get real and call teh bank to get the money out I need! The students were very nice and we had some great chats, and I have still come out of the visit ahead.
9 NSD days. Pretty much only need vegetables, toilet paper and some lunch bits to get through to next Friday.
Not much exercise as have been driving to work, have now budged and gotten a parking sticker.
Grateful for a productive week, ds1 starting work, after lots of delays, next week, for having all weekend to work on my creative stuff - will need actual results by Sunday evening. A bit scary to be honest.

Thanks for the advice, Everyone. I've decided we will buy the TV. The Boy is coming for dinner tomorrow so we'll order it then. Your post has given me food for thought, Mothernerd. I guess if something makes life easier/happier and you can afford it it's worth paying the money for. I have been thinking of buying Himself a new tablet for his birthday in July because the one he has is old and frankly not very user friendly so he's constantly asking me how to do this and that. I was humming and hawing because I thought does he really need a new one. Well, yes. If the Boy can find something suitable I'll go for it. Then we'll think about getting him another simpler to use phone. Neither need to be state of the art with lots of features he wouldn't use and both would certainly make life easier for me.

Home - Again following on from your post, Mothernerd, I'm going to have a good think about things that could make life easier.
Me - I was doing OK but I was a bit naughty yesterday. Enough said but it involved chocolate.
Weather is lovely here so I'm off for a walk to the shops. Have a lovely weekend.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.6 -
Morning all, sorry I've been AWOL for a few days, RL has been full on!
@Toni'sfriend the film sounds good, will keep an eye out for it. Agree with the others, buy the TV.
Thursday was a NSD, so now on #11. Had a fantastic review at work, came out of the headteacher's office floating 😃 she was VERY complimentary! Had half planned a nap when I got home at the end of the day, but hubby needed some plants put in the ground before they died, so did that instead. Pinned a customer into a dress, then met a friend for a walk. Even though we didn't go too far, I was extremely tired when I got home, so quickly caught up on messages & went to bed. Hasn't been in long when my landline rang, it was the daughter of a friend (who'd recently lost her dad), to say that her sister had just died that evening. Totally in shock!
Friday had a different routine at work, as short staffed. All went ok though. Took mum shopping after work, then spent a couple of hours with me bereaved friend. Nipped back to SM for frozen items before I came home. Bought a ready meal as I was starving! Fell into bed & slept deeply.
Awoke at 7.50 & suddenly thought that hubby was still in bed, so if DS1 was working this morning, he was going to be late as no one had woken him (he usually sleeps through the alarm on his phone, even when it's next to his pillow!). Luckily it's only 3 minutes round the corner to his workplace! Needless to say, he was up & dressed in record time!
Loved the self care bingo @mothernerd.
Grateful for an excellent review, Swallows swooping round my head Thursday night, supporting a friendUse it up, wear it out

Today I am grateful for getting out and about early and using shanks's pony, for bumping into a neighbour and reminding them they're invited to the local jubilee party, for dh digging out the fence hole (so all we need now is postcrete...), for a video call with big sis and mum, for cutting out lots of elephants and giraffes (my school fair is in 4 weeks and I'll be in the middle of exam marking by then, eek, so need to up the ante now), for a visit to the library with dc.
