    I’m with EON Next, on a fixed rate until 18th June. They have offered me the following: 

    Do nothing and at the end of your contract, you'll switch on to our Next Flex tariff. 

    This tariff has no end date and may be more expensive for you. 

    This is a variable tariff and your prices can go up or down. If they need to go up, we'll let you know. 

    Estimated cost for the next 12 months: 

    Electricity: £1,334.34
    Gas: £1,773.23

    You can fix your prices. 

    If you'd like to fix your prices, our cheapest tariff is Next Online v14. 

    It has no exit fee 

    To get our cheapest tariff offers you need to pay by Direct Debit, agree to manage your account online and have a smart meter fitted, where eligible. 

    Estimated cost for the next 12 months: 

    Electricity: £1,764.84
    Gas: £2,341.77

    These are based on your annual use: 
    Electricity: 4,158 kWh
    Gas: 22,722 kWh


    Should I go on the variable or fix, what’s your advice?

    @sophievale Do you have a particularly large house as your gas usage is very high?

    First advice is see what you can cut down on gas wise with heating/hot water as you are burning through a lot of gas.

    Same for electricity look to see what you can cut down on. 

    As for the fix it doesn't look good enough to gamble on for whatever happens in October in my opinion. Stay on the variable.

     Thanks for the advice @Mstty. We are in a 5 bed detached. Might have to consider kicking the husband out then haha!

    I've just phoned Octopus ,they are taking on new customers.
    They have a flex tariff 27.09kw,48.65 daily standing charge.
    Fixed tariff 40.22kw,48.65 daily standing charge. No exit fees.
    Sadly the offer from British Gas I received beats them,e mail  them  hello@octopus.energy if youdont want to ring

    Octopus always used to have a referral thing as well.  I don't know if they're still accepting them (but the link is there for me in my account), £50 credit each for referrer and referee.

    I had a referral code but they're only doing over the phone not on line so I don't know if they would work.I did mention it what on phone but nothing said .

    It's for electricity  I don't have gas .

    Apologies my brain is not working,I 've looked again at the offer from British Gas exclusive May 23v1 I think !!!  they're offering 31.919KW  & 55.762 dsc  ex vat.
