Hello, I'm North West with OVO

    ...

Based on my last 12 months usage with these new prices the average per month is £254 + vat, which is very worrying.

Has anyone got new prices from OVO?

You'll find the current capped SVT rates for dual-fuel DD customers at the link in my signature. All the suppliers are charging those rates (or in a few cases, very slightly less).

Sorry - can I add, I am in Lancashire and only moved into this house in November, so not sure I can rely on their estimated use.  On the price cap, I am currently Electricity: 28.02p Standing charge 42.25p; Gas: 7.34p Standing Charge 27.22p
I thought new tarifff offered by  BG was high Electric 37.34 sc 56.90pd Gas 10.04 sc 34.069pd  I am in North Angus.

Scottish Gas Exclusive May 2023 v1
    (South Scotland Region)

    Electricity:

    Standing charge:
    56.496p per day
    Unit rate:
    32.666p per kWh

Fixed price energy until 31st May 2023**
Exit fees of £75.00 per fuel if you switch to another supplier. No exit fees for switching to another British Gas tariff.

For me it works out about an expected 16% uplift - it's almost tempting for the certainty especially with the free swap to a cheaper BG tariff if available ...
I am doing the exact calculations. It's the daily charge. I am North Scotland. I probably will take it despite my calculated £38 pm.
  • Does anyone know which suppliers still issue monthly bills, but allow a fixed monthly direct debit, currently been moved to British Gas and they apparently cant comprehend this request...

@JoshJosh Octopus let you set your own DD (within reason) and bill you every time you submit a reading, if that would suit you?

I'm with Scottish Power. My fix ends at midnight unfortunately.
Their new rate, for the standard online tariff,is
    Electric. 44.74 standing charge,and 27.62 per kw.
    Gas        27.22.      ".              ".               7.28 per kw.

To fix till May 23 will cost the same daily Standing Charge as above
But 46.78 per kw for electricity
    And. 15.3 for gas

What would you advise ? We are heavier on electricity than gas, even in the winter.
Are you all fixing,or sticking with the standard charges, and waiting to see what happens in the autumn ?

@Froglet this would be better as its own thread in the forum, but I wouldn't take that fix. It's a 69% increase for electricity and 110% for gas. I feel it would take a major Black Swan event for prices to rise that high in October.

You start paying the higher rates immediately though just when your electricity & gas use is probably coming down for summer.
The SVT would have to go up a lot more in October for it to be cheaper to take this fix (in my case the electricity offer was ~+16% over the year which I worked out was about the same as sticking on current SVT & then a ~27% rise in October).
