Green energy is not cheap it is just greener (maybe with the right wind blowing)1

I haven’t even looked at the detail yet, but my first thought is whether BG can be trusted with that promise, after the debacle of their SoLR tariffs, and massive customer confusion over when those ‘Welcome’ tariffs lasted until? Is there an exit fee?If there is I would make sure I keep a record of that promise and expect them to screw it up, charge you anyway, and for you to need to complain. But they wouldn't have a leg to stand on so you would eventually get off.If no exit fee then they wouldn't have anything to charge regardless.0 -

There are very few fixed deals available to new customers on the market, and those that are tend to be pricey. Yet sometimes we do hear of short-lived 'existing customer only' deals from certain firms that can be competitive. These deals aren't available on comparison sites, making them hard to keep track of.
Is there a good one out there that fellow MoneySavers might be missing out on?
Let us know the name of the tariff and the name of the supplier.
You are charged 2 x 51.50p for the first 2KWh electric = 103p. You need to take into account that you get 2KWh of electricity, with other suppliers you would pay around 56p, so you only pay 47p more for the first 2Kwh, which is in line with the standing charges on SVT. Same goes for gas.
So you will not save a lot if you change to another supplier, here you even have the possibility not to use gas for a day and save the standing charge.2 -
I'm in North East Scotland, and was with Green Energy Limited till it went under in September 2021. My neighbours were with Avro which went down the same day. I was moved to Shell Energy, and have still to receive a correct bill. Email from Shell Energy on 23rd February informing me of price changes from 1st April.
Flexibly 7 Electricity Only
Increase from 20.834p/kWh to 27.906p/kWh
Standing Charge per day change from 27.39p to 50.05p
Prices include VAT at 5%.
Is there anybody else, in this part of the country, being charged roughly the same? I live on my own since my Mum died, and electricity usage had already gone down a lot since then. Not sure how much more I can do to cut back.

@WillPS That’s what we thought about the other situation, referred to. Far from losing a leg, BG actually grew a third one…

Wasn’t offered anything amazing by EDF. A 2 year fix at 37p unit price and 44p standing. The £150 exit fee made me stick to the SVT, that is only 27p a unit. Still hurts after I have got used to paying 15p for the last 2 years.
That's a big saving over what could be the majority of people👍1
