  • British gas Loyalty Jun23v2 fix until 30.6.23, unit rate 34.029p/KWH, standing charge 57.106pday, exit charge £75. I have gone with it as it is 20% more than my previous People's tariff that I was put onto after my previous 2 companies went under and on today's advice, if we can fix at under 30% higher that was reckoned to be probably OK. I really hope I've done the right thing, feel quite sick at how much I am paying, and how much MORE I have agreed to pay.

Well with what's just been announced are people thinking it's still worth fixing? I guess still fix and the money we are going to get can go towards it?

Have to wait for Martin later
Yeah fair point but by the looks of it it’s just a grant of £400 applied to the account so perhaps not much changes in the decision. I’ve just got from BG evolve to BG fix yesterday exclusive v15. Still intend to keep it unless I hear otherwise.

Having been transferred to BG last year, my current 'Peoples Tariff' comes to an end on 30th June. Can I assume that the new 'Loyalty' fixed cap rates won't change by the end of June so will wait until then to switch. Hope this is correct?

I think that is a bit optimistic...I'm not sure I would rely on anything lasting 24 hours. Indeed I was also moved from People's to BG.  I am considering the current fixes, 3 of which have increased in price, albeit it marginally, since last night.  Sorry to say

Yes that's what I'm thinking and will probably fix as well with the EDF offer and just use the £400 as assistance

My quote is similar for electric but gas is just short of 40% higher.  Combining the two I'd be looking at an overall per annum increase of 31% .  That would seem to be on the threshold of being good value.  The galling thing is paying more between now and Oct.  Tempted though

The period between now and October will be much reduced consumption. Especially gas. That’s what I am thinking anyhow.

I hate gambling and I feel that those of us in this thread are being forced to do so with the fixes on offer. I've taken the EDF 2 year fix and am now hoping prices rise next year and the government provide more support - just to justify my decision. What a crazy world..

I think that's very apt, I don't doubt the Ofgem announcement followed by the Chancellor's announcement has made more take a fix.

I am quite a risk adverse person so our household took a fix in March for 2 years so we know where we are and can budget, we are the same on mortgages minimum 5 year fixes.

The key with a fix deal is you can budget around it and of course reduces energy usage to fit your budget.
