Great news it was resolved at a reasonable cost. Nice to have a mechanic friend 😀

13 years on one battery is amazingly good! I admit I was quite surprised when mine had to be replaced on the last car after about 10 years and the mechanic was astonished it had lasted so long - apparently these days they reckon anything over about 6/7 years is decent!

Not looking forward to my current car deciding it needs a replacement one as it's a Stop/Start so a LOT pricier I believe!

Yes I noticed the prices were a lot dearer than an ordinary battery.

Work has been fairly manic this week ,at least I only have a day left to do. The £150 turned up today so that has been swept to one side . Will think where I want to put it nearer payday when I do my budget for the next month .
My old car battery got took to the local scrapyard near work . My car radio needs resetting after the battery change , will leave that too my son over the weekend.

Glad to find you again Sunshine_girl. Sorry to hear about th.e battery but 13 years seems very good to me. Hope you get the car radio reset sorted. Enjoy your reducing hours too.

DD and family are away this weekend , so I have no childminding duties today. Going to take my dad shopping instead . Tomorrow we are off to another county to visit friends of parents a pub lunch is involved . Parents have never driven so I am the chauffeur , but I always get a petrol contribution and a free lunch. My dad has gifted me the cost of the new battery so will use that towards shopping today . Maybe take mum to see Downton Abbey Sunday.

I love how you look after your parents and they still look after you. You’re so lucky to have them and they’re lucky to have you 💕

Last Saturday was a lovely day with parents and their friends , the weather helped enormously.
This week has been another busy one , but I finished off today on a training day that finished early so I was able to pick up the GKs from school with grandad , I will be there tomorrow as usual.
It's a big birthday for me this year so just looking at booking a trip to New York in November , my friend has been getting prices . I have the money saved already no credit card adding .
Plus I have booked 3 nights away in Yorkshire in August with my eldest two GKs in a cottage £58 a night, it's about 15 mins from the nearest beach and is in an area I know well . This has been paid in full , no CC involved .
The big news today is I received my DB pension figures , just need to decide what option to go for . It was non contributory , so I am pleased to be receiving this . I have worked out tonight it would be viable for me to retire at 60 but I couldn't do anything so will carry on working for a while . The pension figures are pretty much what I was expecting and am glad to have received them before I go part time in 2 weeks as I know where I stand in December when I am 60.
