As I said in my previous diary I would start a new one as in six weeks I cut my working hours in half to 18 hours , working two days a week. I have chosen to start this part time working on half my salary before one of my pensions kicks in , in December .
Therefore I am going to have to be very frugal for six months , I will have to use some savings probably to top up my salary but not sure by how much yet , owing to a pay rise at work and the NI implications now and in July.

I will have been debt free for a year on the 26th April and still remain that way and have been saving for the last few months for every eventuality which is good, well at least I am optimistic I can survive even in the current climate .

On Sunday I am off on holiday to Spain, holiday booked 2020 and I am looking forward to it, no forms to fill in not like last September when I was having nightmares with forms for 7 of us. This time it's just myself and my oldest friend looking forward to sun, sangria and down time.

That's it for now .

Case is packed at last .

£25 from Opinium Research has gone in my account today so need to siphon that off to savings . £18 from Topcashback as well today .

The reason behind me going part time is that I still have my two parents alive . They are very self sufficient but are starting to need help with a few things . I also have 3 gorgeous grandchildren who I love spending time with .

I am looking for an online budgeting tool not YNAB if anybody can suggest one that's easy to use.?

  • Hello Sunshine_girl, I'm also considering a change in work, although I'm a bit scared to make the final jump at the moment.

Good luck with your new working times and enjoy your holiday

Makingmehappy, I have taken months to decide what to do , but have been working towards the goal for about 12 months . I still feel apprehensive about it but am sure it will all be fine . Good luck on changing your hours if it's right for you.

Back from a great break in Spain, seeing the sun was wonderful.

My works HR have confirmed my part time contract starting 6th June , is all very real now and a little bit scary .
Last full months salary on the 18th May , then June will be a mixture , July will be my first part time wage . I get one of my workplace pensions in December , between June and December will need to be super tight with money .
None of this would have been possible without getting debt free to which I am so glad I achieved .
    Best get back to work.

It's great that you get a gradual change to the money over several months though - that ought to make it feel a bit less of a shock to the system anyway!

Glad you had a wonderful break - it looks beautiful!
