Bit of a shocker at the Foodbank today. We get given things on an ad hoc basis but sometimes it's difficult to know exactly how best to use them. There were several crates of brocolli that was clearly heading towards going over and which didn't have a chance of surviving until next Tuesday when it reopens, so all the volunteers carried away as much as they wanted. Sadly the rest will probably go to waste. It's such a shame but there genuinely wasn't anything that could be done with it because there was too much and it's exactly the wrong time of year to be donated that much fresh but short-lived veggies. I've got a whole carrier bag full of it stuffed in the fridge which is destined to be brocolli and stilton soup when I've got time tomorrow. It's a good thing we've got some space in the freezer I'm trying to empty so we can sell it!House vaguely under control, and Belovéd did the vacuuming yesterday while I was hard at it in the kitchen, thank goodness, so the carpets look reasonable. Fortunately we're not getting many visitors at the moment who might have noticed the dust.Better is good enough.10

HB.. maybe suggest Olio to rehome excess in future.. it is basically a site giving away what you cannot use.

Good call Pigpen. Unfortunately the Foodbank is also exceptionally short-staffed this week, so any extras on top of providing and delivering food parcels was unlikely to happen. Maybe next time.

Been and watched the Holy Cross being installed at the top of a steep local landmark, I got there for about 10.40am it finally arrived at 12.05 and I got cold, but those who carried it up the steep cliff did very well.Hoovering doneBins doneBBQ found in garage and got out by OH, (It didn't get used last year for obvious reasons) I have cleaned it, OH will 'burn' it off later on.Deer have been busy again on their menu, hostas, primulas, more rose buds, I'm not happy to say the least. Then last night while closing the curtains, there is a muntjac happily munching away at the wall flowers in the front garden with cat 1 watching him, from about 2 foot away.Off out walking have another 2 miles to do.Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

The worktop area where the fish tank was is all scrubbed and sparkly.. I am moving the mixer there so it is accessible to use.that should clear the bit of side above the DW so I can wash down there and the bit where the kettle lives. I hate cleaning the kitchen it is one of those never ending jobs.I have loaded the DW so I can empty that shortly too.the pinks are making incessant annoying noises and I rather wish they had mute buttons!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)8

Eastertide greetings to all. Back from hols last night, so although I did check up on you busy flypeople while I was away, I can't actually remember who needs hugs/congratulations/dogsticks throwing/welcome etc so consider yourself appropriately addressed! We had a good time, weather was kind-ish: sunny but rather windy so sadly other than one swim at my Mum's, the Devon waves and shingle banks were a bit off-putting. For Strictly/dance fans, Johannes 'live' was fantastic. Had Buck's Fizz for breakfast overlooking the waves on my birthday, then went home via my DB where SIL had baked a lovely orange polenta cake for me, and was treated to an Italian meal. Now down to earth again after wrestling with the M25 on the way home.
Today was mainly unpacking bags, WM x 3, opening post.
Spent much of day arranging flowers for the church. The lilies I had ordered were a bit disappointing; very small and more than twice the price of last year's. However, dropping in at Mr T late last night I was able to get several bunches of other flowers to fill in, greatly reduced. As usual the house now looks like a florist. Arranged 2 big ones for the church, small one for friends we are having lunch with tomorrow and 3 vases for us.......
Walked (25mins each way) to church for the Good Friday service which was lovely, and caught up with some friends although sadly some of the discussion was about 2 other local residents who died while I was away: one elderly man who had laid our paved drive 30yrs ago and one lady (50s) who I used to ride with; she'd been in poor health for a long time. I'm beginning to get survivor syndrome.
After we'd done the lorry-loading for the Ukraine donations recently, a photo went on FB which was fine (although sweaty and bedraggled).........it is now with an article for a newspaper web site (hint: reflections) which was a bit of a shock; presume our village man who is collecting and driving got interviewed by someone. Fame at last.
Tomorrow's plan is ParkRun, take flowers to church, fly round church with vacuum and duster, have lunch with friends. Then it's a choice between gardening, flying or work........Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.10 -
I’m a lazy flylady. No surprise there, as sloth is my natural state. I might have managed a few dailies, the wm has been run, ironing pile is under control, the troops are fed and watered and Mr M deliveries have been received and stashed. I pootled in the garden this afternoon for a couple of hours with no real progress to show. Tomorrow I must go to the allotment before I forget where it is.YL - 2 hospitals in the past couple of weeks, and I have been ok to go in with DD. The first one said that the rules had changed so I could go into the waiting room with her, as well as into the consulting room. HTH x7

Evening all. Sorry I’ve been missing again.
Dancegran’s house completed last week. I don’t regret not buying it which is good.Had a trip this morning to an outlet village up the M1 and bought some much needed trousers for home time. I have been putting my pjs on when we get home to protect my uniform from cat hair. Had car washed and insides cleaned a treat as we had to do a short notice final clearance of the rest of DG’s stuff.
Spent the afternoon shredding paperwork. It seems to multiply when I’m not looking.9
