So, going by the majority of posts on here, no-one should question anything. I'm surprised, especially this being an MSE site.0

I wouldn't say that exactly, its just that Tesco have raised the price of one of their products. They are entitled to do this, if the consumer doesn't like it then don't buy the product, don't shop in the shop, buy the product elswhere cheaper... etc etc.
Of course everyone is entitled to ask Tesco why they have done this. But tesco have repled in this case, they have replied with a reasonable response, stating reasons that have been well publicised, and that the Op has stated he/she knew about, yet the OP is still not happy. What exactly do they want?0 -

OK maybe I didn't put it quite clearly in my first e mail to Tesco but I have put that right in todays reply. What I really want to know is how they can justify an increase of 50% on one yoghurt whilst they leave the lower priced one alone. All this with their PR machine going into overdrive about worldwide dairy price increases.0 -
You've been told this many many times, but in the interests of wasting my own time, your time, and MSE's bandwidth, I'll mention it again. Has it occured to you that they source the value product from a different supplier, who up until now has not increased their price, thus Tesco have no price increase to pass on.
I'm not sure what I've been told many times, but I am certain you are one of the mugs who think we should just blindly accept retailers rip off pricing.
You are obviously very well informed on supermarkets buying practices and the intricacies of their supply chains. Perhaps you can explain why these in your words "different suppliers" of yoghurts to Tesco happen to put the same German EC Supplier Code on the pots DE BW033 EC ?0 -
after reading a number posts about you complain of the price increase, its quite simple if you dont like it, dont buy it! They are not forcing you too buy it!!! most likley the price has gone up due to the fact, their supplier has increased thier prices because the the different types of yoghurts would come from different suppliers. so hence why the value yoghurt has stayed the same! now if they refused to pay the price it wouldnt be in stock would it? then it would give you something else to complain about.0

True Miss Giggles and I do intend to avoid Tesco in 2008. I for one am sick of seeing one price on the shelf and a totally different price (more expensive of course) on my till receipt when I get home.:mad:I prefer Sainsburys any day of the week these days.0

If you went into a shop and got questioned at the till as to why you were spending so little would you be happy? I'd be surprised if you weren't, especially as they are a business intending to make money.0 -
OMG....don't even get me started on Sainsburys
(or Asda, Morrisons, Safeways, Tesco, so on so forth). They all have their faults, but I for one am glad they're there.
Merry Christmas all.:xmassmileBetween two evils, I always pick the one I never tried before0 -

Oh, dinna be contermashious! You know full well what I meant.
Yes and you know what I meant.
Theres a difference between asking a question and asking for a companies confidential financial information such as margins and wholesale costs.
And as far as you point of this being a money saving site goes then my reply relates to money saving. How much has this cost Tesco to deal with the op's complaint so far? It can't be cheap if the first thing the op does is email the CEO which has to employ a PA to filter his emails. How much does it cost Tesco every year to deal with pointless complaints - yes it is pointless, one you don't have to buy anything and secondly the op has no right to dictate to Tescos what it's prices should be.
If you work out the cost to Tescos with having to deal with complaints with people who have superiority complexes, just want to moan or trying to make themselves feel important it must come to millions. This will effect the cost of goods.
Why should I and everyone else have to pay more because Tescos and other companies has to employ people to deal with pointless complaints like this?0
