I popped into Aldi this morning and the tomatoes were 28p @maman so a bit cheaper than the Asda ones but as you say the chickpeas and kidney beans are much cheaper - they're usually around 50p-55p a tin.  May well be worth picking some of those up.

I had to go to the dentist this morning as well @ruby_eskimo but even though I've lost part of a filling and my crown's a bit loose he decided nothing needed doing as there's no pain or sensitivity.  The crown he said that unless it actually falls out it's best to leave well alone as my gum won't support a new one - so looks like it might be false teeth if it does come out as it's a front one!  DH just has to go back for a filling in a couple of weeks time so a relatively cheap visit as much expecting it to be an expensive one with a new crown!  Just glad it's a NHS dentist and not private.

How many tins of beans do you add to your veggie chilli @maman?  I was going to batch cook some but I want to run down my outside freezer before we go away for a month in September so best not to add too much batch cooking!  I'll still stick to making enough for 2 meals and freezing one but that's about it I think.

I use this Hairy Bikers recipe @joedenise.

Chilli con carne - Recipes - Hairy Bikers

I just leave out the meat and add two extra tins of beans. This week I used red beans, black eyed beans and rinsed off some cheap baked beans (idea from Jack Monroe). Sometimes I use chick peas or butter beans, depends what I have in.  As we're not veggie, I stick with the beef stock and use a red wine stock cube as well. I don't bother with flour as it's always thick enough for us. As well as the tomatoes and onion I add carrots, peppers, mushrooms and often courgettes, celery and baby corn as well. As I'm upping the size of the recipe, I'm very generous with the spices and use generously heaped teaspoons of each for flavour and sweetener instead of sugar. Obviously, if you only want four portions you can use less beans and/or less veg. I just throw all the raw ingredients into the SC and cook for about 6 hours on low or until the carrots are soft. Hope you enjoy it.

Thanks @maman.  Will add your post to my SW online recipes!  Probably easier than typing it out!

Haven't actually got chilli on this month's menu plan and we're away for all of June so I may well add to July's menu and make up a big batch to freezer to use July/August and even taken some away for our holiday in September!

    Hi all,

Thanks for the kind comments feel much better today about the little gain. I've realised I had some NSV - I didn't come home and eat unwanted syns as I might have done once. I also didn't pick up sweets in the garage after a long drive as I also would have done once. I know that voice will always be there but I know I'm empowered now to manage the temptations.

I tried Aldi's 5% fat meatballs tonight, 1/2 syn each and they were rather nice, very moist for being low fat too

    Hello all
I enjoyed my few days away and the wedding but I didn’t enjoy the 4lb gain 😂I did 20000 steps on Friday which included a trek up a sheer hill (from Alexandra Palace train station to Ally Pally itself) and some serious boogying at Peter Kay’s Dance For Life. Unfortunately I lived on Maccy D’s for a few days 😂I had no issues finding a dress- I got one in the first shop I went into (River Island- can that shop do anything wrong 😂) and it was literally the second thing I picked up- but could I find a cardie, shoes and fascinator? Could I heck! I found a cardie in M&S, but they didn’t have my size- I managed to pick one up in a smaller local branch on my way back to the hotel.

I refused to pay 20 quid plus for a bit of pink wire so I wore a hair band I already had. My dress was navy and pink and I really wanted a pink hairband but I wore a navy one instead. Shoes- I ended up wearing trainers 🙈fortunately my dress was floor length, but no-one judged me as on the day of the wedding my ME and fibro combined to spectacularly kick my behind and I was in agony. However when I put the photo up everyone said what lovely colours my dress and cardie were. They were both size 18 and very comfy.

I’ve got no events at all (except one comedy show) for the next month and then I’ve got a lot happening at once in June so I’ve really knuckled down and got back on plan. Im happy to say that I can finally comfortably wear my size 18 Topshop jeans- although I managed to get them zipped up for a while I couldn’t comfortably wear them, but I tried them the other day and they are now wearable. I’m away for a few days with my bestie next month so I’ve put them aside for then. I’ve also had the mother of all clear outs- I sent 22 bags to the Air ambulance charity which they collected yesterday, that’s on top of the 12 bags I’ve already donated. That’s all my size 24’s (pretty much, I’ve still got some of my old jeans as they’re useful for the rugby when it’s cold as I layer thermals under them, and some of my old t-shirts which I wear around the house)

    Tuesday’s food:
B: HEXB Lizi’s granola, blueberries and FF natural Greek yoghurt
L: HEXA 1 50% reduced fat cheddar, tomatoes, rice (3.5 syns) veg. HiFi (3)
D- Feta stuffed peppers (HEXA2) with couscous (0.5) and veg. Chocolate (4.5)
    S: Popchips (3.5) HiFi (3)
    Syns: 18
Pic of me in my dress on Sunday. Also pic of me looking daft in my 80’s get up for Dance for Life 😂Night all xx
