We've decided to take the SW consultant up on her offer, she knows what an issue it has been juggling my work, mum and going to group and of course, my finances, so we will be going every 3 weeks. That arrangement will kill several birds with one stone as it has been a bit of a nightmare with getting to group with my work hours and the demands of mum and of course, financially it is more affordable that way.
Hopefully that will keep us more on the straight and narrow in between times as we still have that check in place and access to what we found was a pretty brilliant app. I was actually quite upset at it being the last one today, the people there are lovely, so supportive and non judgemental and I was going to miss them. I may not completely get on with the actual plan so well but I've found my way of sort of adapting it into my own kind of plan that takes from calorie counting and combining with being careful with syns.
I've actually lost over the 10%, I'm pretty chuffed with that as that was my goal for the 12 week referral. Health wise - no difference in mobility but then that is never going to change, pain is up a little but I expected that as that is normal for me when I become lighter but the real positive is that I am having less heartburn, less irritable bowel symptoms, my skin is looking healthier and I am feeling a little less sluggish after eating.
The downside is that I am going to start buying some new clothes soon in smaller sizes and I hate spending moneyย ย
Beanielou - I remember when youngest transitioned from DLA to PIP, his assessment was a bit of a trial as he doesn't like people, struggled with strangers and the entire thing consisted of him sitting turned away from the assessor (after struggling to get him in the building) and then he had a major meltdown at the end when we were leaving. When his PIP came up for renewal, he was pretty traumatised at the thought of having to go through that again and almost didn't do the paperwork because of the fear but luckily they did a paper based review. He would have refused to go if they had wanted him to have a face to face, he just couldn't bear the thought of it and had become quite manic, withdrawn and unable to sleep because of it.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

You and your DS have done amazingly well @SingleSue and I'm really glad you've found a workaround to keep attending group and adapting the plan and making it your own. Glad you are feeling some health benefits too. I too may have to buy some new clothes in the near future as some of my work skirts/trousers are feeling a little loose now. The last 6 items of clothing I bought were from CSs though and I'm super happy to be supporting a charity and getting a pre-loved item.

My eldest son is the same Coxy and that is despite being with me the night I started showing symptoms in a very enclosed place (my car) for a couple of hours and also being the last one standing in his office while everyone else was going down with it and not just the once either.
He's gone through so many tests every time he has had contact, it is unreal.
My niece is the same though too, she had a boyfriend go down with it that she was with when he had symptoms, contact with us just before we went down with it, works in the community and has worked at the hospital on Covid wards and was the only one standing when her whole family (who she lives with), went down with it. She's had to test twice a week due to her job right from the get go.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Morning all.ย Well the cold I thought I had last week was actually Covid - I knew as soon as I woke up at 2am on Saturday struggling to breathe and that lateral flow test lit up like a Christmas tree.ย Have been in bed / on the sofa all week but feeling almost back to normal, if a little short of breath most of the time and don't have a sense of taste or smell.ย So food has been the last thing on my mind as I can't taste anything!
Well done on the losses @SingleSue and your son, @beanielou and @Vegastare.
