Morning all, it's absolutely horrible here this morning - wet and very windy!
Your liver dish sounded nice @Coxy11, glad you enjoyed it.
Today's plan:
B - toasted cheese sandwich HEA2; HEB (last of cheese and just a couple of slices of bread for DH to toast tomorrow!)
L - burger, egg & HM chips - P; F; 0.5 (last of the eggs and burgers from freezer)
D - fish & chips; tartare sauce - P; F; 15? (will take off the batter and probably won't eat a full portion of chips)
Have a good day everyone.
I won't be posting my food for the next couple of weeks!!!0 -
Well I have searched for somethings But typing in @joedenise faggots got me there (sorry)
500g 5% pork mince
250g lambs liver
2 medium onions
3 Rye crispbreads
1 tsp sage
1 tsp thyme
half tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
2 beef stock cubes (crumbled)
egg to bind if necessary (but I don't usually find I need it)
Amazing what you can find. Will try then and let you know when you get back. Might use slice brown bread in stead crispbreads,0 -
Thanks @Vegastare - I hadn't had time to look for the recipe yet so that will save me a job! Let me know what it's like with bread rather than crisp bread. The original recipe used Scan Bran which was available at group but apparently tasted like cardboard - never tried it myself!
The mixture needs to be quite wet as it firms up a lot when it's cooked. Don't think my mixture was quite wet enough this time as the faggots were much denser than usual. I cook them in HM SW onion gravy (recipe on the website, probably on the app as well but not checked).
Just don't expect them to taste like the Brains faggots which I really don't like the texture of.
Hope you enjoy them.0 -
Morning all. Had a lovely weekend with my friend - lots of wine, cheese and cake consumed, festive cheer at the Christmas markets, long walks in the countryside and some good chats. Result of all that was a half pound gain but ok with that in the grand scheme of things. 2 lbs away from the end of year target I set myself so still feeling confident about that. Washing machine has decided to play up and is not draining now - just when I have lots of washing to do. Hoping that DH can take a look at the waste pipe today and clear any blockages.
Had porridge for breakfast, lunch is celery soup that I batch cooked last week - it's more potato and leek with celery in it but hey! Dinner is a gousto inspired meal of cheeseburger rice bake - bit like the SW classic of burger in a bowl but baked with rice in the oven. Will see how it goes 🤷♀️

That's just a tiny gain @ruby_eskimo. 🤞🏼for reaching your target in the next few weeks. Whatever happens, you've done well to get so close. 😊
It's tough when you look to your mum for support and it's not there @Coxy11. Has she always been like this? 🤔 I know my mum got more self-centred as she got older.
I had faggots in a restaurant a couple of weeks ago and they'd obviously been made locally, nothing like Mr Brains but delicious. I was wondering @Vegastare whether you could use plain couscous to thicken them. That's what I do for my meatballs and it works well, and it's syn free. I freeze LO gravy from either Hairy Biker's or beef in 'red wine' to have with midweek meals like liver or sausages that don't really have their own meat juices. It's virtually free when I think how many portions I get from 1 tbsp (or less) of cornflour.
I don't blame you not posting menus when you're on holiday @joedenise but it will be interesting to hear what sort of buffet choices are available. Just think, after tomorrow, you won't be waking up to endless rain and grey skies every day. 😁
I've worked out that, after estimating 30 for my meal out last Friday, I'm under by 22 syns this week as won't need any today. That allows for any slip ups with, for example, not measuring milk. I've done all I can to try and get that pound off this week. I can't say I feel any thinner but it's a fine margin. I can't go to WI next week as we're away for a couple of days. Next week and the first two weeks in December definitely won't be SW friendly so if it doesn't happen tomorrow then I'll just have to plod on until I can get back on plan. Just thinking aloud. 🤔
Today's EE plan-
B- HEB porridge, HEA1 milk, berries (S), banana (F)
L- Spanish omelette (F, S, P) pickles (S), ham (P)
D- SW Bolognese (P, S), spaghetti (F), HEA2 Parmesan

If the hotel is like the one we went to last time there was lots of food which was SW friendly but also lots that wasn't! This hotel is in the same chain as the one we went to last time so would think the food would be similar but probably not the foods that kids seem to like as that one was for families, this time it's an Adult Only so assuming there will be less of the ready made breadcrumbed stuff that they seem to serve to kids.
I did notice in the blurb that there is actually sparkling wine available at breakfast so could easily have bucks fizz if I fancy it but certainly not every day!
There was always wine or beer with lunch and dinner; plus a couple of bars where you could get cocktails as well.
Must admit my food choices were definitely better the 2nd week than the 1st! Will probably do the same this time.
Not sure if I said but we're meeting my sister at the hotel, she's flying from Glasgow rather than Gatwick but our planes get in within about 5 minutes of each other so wouldn't be surprised if we meet up on the coach to the hotel rather than actually at the hotel.

Thanks for all the well wishes for my Mum, she's doing okay, and keeping everyone entertained retelling her accident. It honestly wouldn't have been out of place in a sitcom.
Funeral today, my sister forced a glass of wine on me, my request for a small was ignored, I also had a small triangle ham and tomato sandwich and a square of carrot cake from the beige buffet. Despite the sad occasion it was lovely to see so many cousins and family.
Syns wise I don't think I did too bad, I think??
