I'm another that seems to get stuck in a rut with recipes. I'm definitely going to try that Tom Kerridge one from M&S @joedenise.

I like reading what others on here put on their menus. It helps to share ideas. 😊 DH will eat most things except eggs and seafood. He's OK with egg to, for example, bind meatballs and he eats fish but not things like prawns and mussels.

I'm happy with LOs for lunchtime. DH and I rarely eat together then so today I enjoyed an egg with my corned beef hash. 😋.

I've really enjoyed having the pickled red onions this week. They're like the Baxters ones which I bought for 50p in the Company Shop. I'm going to look for a recipe.

    Today's EE plan -
    B- HEB porridge, HEA1 milk, berries (S), banana (F)
    L- LO corned beef hash (P, F, S), egg (P), pickles (S)
    D- Spaghetti Bolognese (P, S, F), HEA2 Parmesan
    Syns - 0

Feedback on the aromatic pork:  It was OK but could have done with the veg being cooked more before adding everything else as the carrots and peppers were definitely underdone and I cut them smaller than the recipe said and thought there was no way they would cook in the time stated!

It smelt lovely but the flavour was a bit underwhelming so probably won't do it again.  Will be looking for another recipe to use the other pork fillet I've got in the freezer.  The fillet was actually cheaper than I thought at £2.27!

We're going to have the LOs for lunch tomorrow rather than freezing it but I'll be cooking it again rather than just reheating in the microwave like I usually do.

I find it helpful to see what others are cooing as well.  Can't think of anything that my DH won't eat - it's a good job he likes eggs as we eat loads of them - think I might need to cut back a bit on them as my cholesterol has gone sky high.  My GP has referred me to see a cardiologist - there's a waiting list of 48 weeks on the NHS so as I've got Benenden I've got him to refer me there and have an appointment in a couple of weeks time.

Thanks for the feedback @joedenise. These days I rarely buy pork except for the shoulder joints for roasting. I've gone right off pork chops for some reason. 🤔 Thai reminds me, i have some lean, cubed pork in the freezer. I use it to make a sweet and sour type casserole which is 3.5 syns each as it uses honey and cornflour.

The sweet and sour, and the sausage casserole we had this week, were Home Economics recipes my girls made at school. Adapted to SW of course, they're so old that the sausages casserole includes frying in lard! 🤣

Happy birthday @bubbs.  Hope you enjoyed your Chinese!  Don't worry about the extra syns you'll make that up over the week - you don't have many syns most days.

Sounds like your mum is at the end of her tether with your dad.  Dementia is a horrible desease. It affects others more than the person with it because they don't know that they have it.

    Thanks both x

Yes really did enjoy it, just not paying £17 for a takeaway though 😫😫

Mum is at the end of her tether, but in fairness that tether is very short and has always been but because she is in pain and tired it's getting shorter 😥😥

Happy belated birthday @bubbs (fun fact: same day as Adam Ant  <3 ) Don't worry about birthday chocolate syns - what did you have? (asking for a friend.....)

    Morning all!

I went to DSis house last night. Picked DMum up en route. She was her usual cold, unemotional self. Really don't think she likes either of us much! Fundraiser was good - it was a bring n buy sale, so I took a woodwick candle (bought in sale last year), a tube of Clarins face wash (now use another brand), a tealight holder shaped like a gingerbread house (£land) and a journal from Wilkos (£1 in sale). I put £10 in the pot and got 2 x percy pig plant pots (I love pigs), a bar of body shop soap (have switched to soap from shower gel), a book and DSis also gave me 2 pairs of boots that she's never worn as too flat! I may have indulged in some crisps and celebrations - actually ate the bountys as they're being phased out - outrageous!

    Food today:
    B - poached egg, 1 x WM toast, 2 satsumas - P, 1/2 HEB, S
    L - 1 x WM toast, HEA cheese, 2 x satsumas - 1/2 HEB, HEA, S
D - SC chilli con carne with rice - free and will add S veg
    HEA - milk
    Syns - Hi fi bar - 3

I need to pop out at lunchtime and get some fruit as only have satsumas in! Will also get SOTW contribution.
    Have a good day all
