Dad went day centre today, when my sister picked him he burst into tears 😥😥
He thought he had got to stay there and wasn't coming home, so so sad 😥but the staff did say they thought he had dementia, they asked me sister if he had, she said we have suspected . They said he was wandering alot, but was well behaved 😂 She said he does tend to do this when he is not with Mum.
Sister said he asked about 20 times on the way home are we picking Mum up? No, well we won't get in as i have not got a key, sister said she is at home, oh ok, 2 min later going thought it again, so she just kept repeating it. Yet he knew the way home, she didn't without sat nav, but he was saying down to the roundabout, take 1st exit etc, but then asked about Mum again .
She said are you going next week? he said yes 🤷♀️ so he is perhaps happy going now he knows he has not got to sleep there?
When sister got home, walked in and Mum burst into tears, sister oh don't you start we have both been at it 😂so she said to Mum why are you upset? Mum said don't know been like it all week, i think it's because she was worried about Dad going today.Sealed pot challenge number 003 £350 for 2015, 2016 £400 Actual£345, £400 for 2017 Actual £500:T:T £770 for 2018 £1295 for 2019:j:j spc number 22 £1,457Stopped Smoking 22/01/15:D:D::dance::dance:- 5 st 1 1/2lb :dance:0 -

Yes, very sad @bubbs but hopefully as he said he'll go back next week, they'll settle into a routine. I do hope so. 😊
Saying about your dad giving directions home reminded me of DH's uncle. He'd been an army driving instructor and driving him, even into his 90s, was like taking your test all over again. 🤣
Burger looks fab BTW. I could eat it now. 😋0 -
Morning all from a very soggy Kent! Has been raining most of the night I think?
Sorry your DDad got upset @bubbs but sounds like he didn't mind going if he's okay to go again next week. Your poor DMum needs that respite too. Hugs to you all x
We had SC gammon in pepsi max last night. I served brussels, Aldi frozen cauli cheese, green beans and broccoli. DH isn't keen on potatoes, so I barely buy them now. Loads of gammon leftover, so we will have some for lunch and then I'll freeze the rest.
Food today:
B - fruit wheats, blueberries, mullerlight vanilla, grapes - HEB, S, 0.5
L - lo gammon, couscous, pickles, 2 satsumas - P, 1, S
D - prawn and chilli spaghetti
HEA - milk
HEA - mini babybel
Syns - 1.5 plus a hi fi bar so 4.5 total
Off to a fundraiser at my Dsis tonight. I'm picking DMum up en route. Spoke to her last night and she seemed brighter.
Have a good day all,
Coxy

Morning all it's absolutely *issing it down and really strong winds, been like it all night. Had to laugh when DH said there was a message to say that the golf course was shut! It'll be like a bog down there after all that rain.
So sad about your dad but as @maman said hopefully he'll be better, and your mum, next week with him being happy to go back next week. I would have thought it would have been a welcome break for your mum but suspect she didn't really know what to do with herself as she doesn't really get any time without him usually but I'm sure she'll get used to it.
I think said about a week ago that I'd got out a load of my cookery books to find some new recipes well I'm going to make one of them today and it's a one pot so less electric to cook it and less washing up - win win! It's also quite economical as it uses pork fillet - one fillet for 4 portions so it'll be making 2 meals for us and the fillet was less than £2.50 (I bought 2 at the same time and put in the freezer - one was £2.46, the other £2.49 so not sure which one I got out!). This is from one of my old SW books from when I first started back in 2010 and still has the old Red and Green syn values in it as well as EE. In case any of you have some old books it's the one called "extra easy all in one".
So today's plan:
B - stuffed mushrooms - HEA2; S; F
L - eggs on toast - HEB; P
D - aromatic pork and rice - P; S; F
HEA1 - milk
HEA2 - cheese
HEB - bread
Syns - none planned so maybe a couple of crackers & Primula Light 5 syns
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all,
@bubbs I didn't pay at the dentist either!! Now that your dad knows he's not staying he may enjoy the different interaction and change to 'routine' and your mum will settle into enjoying some time to herself too.
Enjoy the fundraiser with family @Coxy11. I need to ring the changes with some new recipes too @joedenise. If I like something I usually eat it to death until I can't face it any more 🤣 I have a shelf full of recipe books in the kitchen that I gaze at every time I put pasta bowls away!
Still eating softer foods but mouth is a lot less tender and only needed a couple of paracetamol yesterday.
Today's food:
B - baked oats (HEXB), f/f yoghurt, raspberries
L - tomato, lentil and garlic soup
D - veggie chilli with rice
Have a good day everyone!0 -
I know what you mean @Jellybaby - we tend to eat the same things regularly but decided it was time for a bit of a change. Think it helped I got another cookbook a couple of weeks ago (not a SW one but has some very adaptable recipes in it - and cheap as it's a student cookbook!)! Picked it up on EBay for a couple of pounds.
So rather than just looking at the books when you put the pasta bowls away get a couple down and see if you can find some new recipes to try!
DH is moaning today that we've had rice for the last 4 days! I had to remind him we had couscous last night and pasta a few days ago plus potato the other one so it's actually been about 4 days since we had rice!!!

Just to mention that the website is good for recipes too. I've had a few good ones lately and you can bookmark them. Interested to see what you think of the pork recipe @joedenise - my DH loves pork!Cross-stitch WIP: Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 11/25 Currently reading The Cliff House by Amanda Jennings0
