That's an amazing loss for you both @SingleSue! You obviously made lots of good choices and helped yourself by getting straight back on plan. 👏👏👏 How much have you lost so far? 🤔

My savoury mince is quite a concoction @joedenise, very much stretched as you suggest. The basic recipe is mince, onion, garlic, tomato puree, mushrooms, diced carrot and Oxo cubes. Yesterday I used 250g of beef mince and 100g of pork and also added a handful of lentils and frozen leeks and a lump of frozen spinach. I also keep a bag of diced broccoli stalks (from the soft inside of the stem) in the freezer, so a handful of that went in as well. 😁

I do my brown rice on the hob. My largest saucepan takes a big mug of rice (340g). I rinse the rice first and then simmer in about 3 litres of water for 30 minutes, drain then leave for 20 minutes or so before portioning it up. I get at least 4 x 250g bags of cooked rice from that which I microwave for about 2 minutes when needed. I should try the slow cooker or microwave but my recipe hails back to before using the hob cost an arm and a leg!☹️

11lbs for me and 20lbs for middle son.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

@maman - thanks for the savoury mince recipe - I really must write it somewhere!  I've never tried doing a mix of beef and pork but will give that a go.- it will probably reduce the cost a bit!

I've checked online about cooking brown rice and wild rice mix in the pressure cooker and quite honestly there's no point as it takes just as long as doing it according to the pack instructions!  Can also be done in the slow cooker - cook for about 3 hours on high so definitely worth a try.

Have done my menu plan for the next couple of weeks but no doubt it will be subject to change depending on what I buy tomorrow when I go shopping - planing on Lidl and Sainsbury tomorrow but there are a couple of things from Tesco so will need to pop down into town early next week, by which time I'll probably need a few other things as well!

I had the original recipe from Topcat when she used to post @joedenise . I have her exact quantities if you want them. Hers was for 500g of mince IIRC. I have 100g packs of pork mince frozen for using with burgers mainly as @bubbs suggested mixing them to make the burgers juicier. I think Aldi sell pork and beef mince together in packs. In my recipe, the lentils make up the extra protein and thicken it and I add extra Speed to absolutely everything! 🤣

Thanks @maman but I'll just do what I usually do which is pretty similar to you but I'll try with pork mince added this time.  It's definitely a bit cheaper that beef mince!

I've given up making my own burgers as DH prefers the butcher's low fat ones which are only half syn each so don't break the syn bank!  I've only got enough for 2 meals this month without going to the butchers which I want to avoid and DH always spots stuff that he fancies and it just ends up in the freezer for me to do something with either later in the month or the following one!
