Happy Birthday @Coxy11. 🎂 Have a good day, enjoy yourself and see you tomorrow. 😁

So pleased that you're enjoying your new job @room512. It's very likely to be water retention in your case that's causing the gain and that will go as quickly as it came. You've done well to stay on plan through the week. Just keep plodding on and perhaps make sure you plan in more Speed this week. I'd recommend some batch cooking at weekends so that you have a range of easy weekday meals. Is it possible that your DH had some extra syns while you were at work? 🤔

Tonight I'm going to try the Gousto veggie goulash that @ruby_eskimo recommended. Like you @bubbs, I've had super goulash in Budapest so hope we enjoy it.

    Today's EE plan -
B- HEB toast, HEA milk for drinks, fried egg (P), tomatoes, mushrooms (S), baked beans (F)
    L- sardines (P), salad bits (S)
    D- veggie goulash (P, S), potato cakes (F)
    Syns - cornflour 1, weekend wine 😁

Peeking in....started at Slimming World Wednesday before last and had my first weigh in on Wednesday and was most surprised to have lost 7lbs. Mind you, that was overshadowed by middle son losing 9.5lbs in his first week.

I was a little dubious about going to SW, I'd always been a WW or calorie counter gal but this was a referral after I asked my asthma nurse for some assistance and as middle son is also my fulltime carer and would have to be with me for weigh ins and has extra padding, he also got a referral.

I don't actually eat that much to be honest, in fact on the first week I was amazed I lost anything at all as it was much more than I would normally have, I'm not a huge chocolate or cake fan but have my rare moments, nor do I drink very often but I must admit that savoury or convenience foods can be a bit of a downfall. Convenience (microwave meals, shop bought sandwiches etc) because my health issues make it difficult (read virtually impossible), to prepare and cook meals.

My weight has been stable for years, unfortunately stable at a not very low number but I've managed to keep it there by being very careful with my intake just not enough to actually lose anything of significance but at least not putting it on wildly which I would have done had I been eating normally. The only different times has been during lockdown where I bucked the trend and actually lost weight because I was furloughed so was expending less energy going to work and that meant I could manage to put something in the slow cooker without collapsing but once furlough ended and I was back at work, the energy levels dropped, the pain levels increased and it was back to square one. The other time was in 2015 when me and middle son calorie counted which saw a loss of 3 stone for me and over 4 stone for him, he put all his back on when he went to uni and discovered parties and takeaways, mine went back on when I was on my own in the house and unable to cook/prepare meals and had to rely on anything that would be just open a packet and eat with no cooking deal, sadly I have deteriorated from even that point and I can't do what I did then to get the weight off.

I have always relied on being able to do some exercise to supplement my weight loss journey but that isn't possible this time, I've tried doing some simple wheelchair based things but with dislocating shoulders, hips, knees etc, it doesn't take much for them to go out. I am getting a little bit peeved by the amount at group who cheerfully say I will be able to throw the wheelchair away once the weight comes off....it was having to go in a wheelchair that caused the weight to go on in the first place! I was an active person, did fun runs, walked everywhere and as a former dancer, very fit indeed. It's actually quite distressing having to explain it all the time, I know they don't mean anything bad by it and are trying to be positive but it is still distressing to have to keep saying they why's and wherefores' of why my body is permanently broken to complete strangers.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Happy birthday @Coxy11 I’m sure you’re having a lovely day. Coffee and cake sounds good!

Welcome Sue, fab losses to you and @Vegastare 👏 keep plodding along @room512 that’s what I’ll be doing next week after a frustrating STS this morning.   Good your consultant is getting some advice @bubbs, will be interesting to see what they suggest. You are the perfect SW member in my book.

I have a loose idea of main meals for the week ahead but will plan each day the night before. I feel I’m more in control and therefore on plan when I do this.

Oh @bubbs, how absolutely infuriating. No wonder you were upset. The best news is that your consultant is going to get further advice. I hope she's aware that your diabetes means that you have very few carbs. 🤔

Welcome @SingleSue, that's a brilliant start. Unfortunately men always lose more. ☹️ Do ask if there's anything you want to know as you can often get a quicker response on here than from a consultant.

STS is frustrating @Jellybaby but your good week will show up eventually.

I put the goulash in the SC so I could forget about it. I hope it tastes as good as it smells. 😋

I only plan dinners in advance @Jellybaby and each morning I sort out the day after DH has done breakfast. So if I've had eggs I try not to have more for lunch.

Hi all and thanks for the birthday wishes!

Welcome @SingleSue that’s a great first weeks loss. Looking forward to joining you on your journey.

I think we must be WI twins @Jellybaby as I too STS - the scales did flicker between half off and STS which was frustrating. I haven’t ‘been’ for 2 days though and Sod’s law it happened when I got home so that’s at least half a pound (sorry if TMI 🤣)

Sorry about your gain @bubbs - I do hope your consultant can come up with something. Have you tried an SAS log?

We met my wider family and I had poached eggs on toast with mushrooms then a piece of carrot cake later at a cafe. We are having take out tonight of Nando’s then going to the pub. I’m writing today off but will be reining it in next week!

I am  not planning this week!

I don't blame you @bubbs but I know that even without a written plan your food will be SW friendly.

I'm glad the consultant has the full picture. I was worried in case she came back saying 'eat more carbs' because that's the main difference between your menu and others.

    Yes she knows.

I had proper chips tonight not bns.

Tomorrow i am having roast beef joint i got from company shop M&S will be 4 syns as its ready basted , but that's fine with me, yorkies and gravy still within syns.

I did say to her i lost all my weight not eating hardly any carbs, so she said SP then, i said i didn't know about SP then so wouldn't have classed it as that
