Morning all, another lovely day but don't think it's as warm as the last couple of days but hoping to still get out in the garden for a while. Still not feeling 100% but slowly feeling a bit better.
DH is cooking today! Plan is:

L - mixed veg soup - S; F
D - lamb shanks; roast potatoes; green veg - S; F; 2
HEA - milk
HEB - bread
Syns - BGTY sausages 2; lamb shank 2
Have a good day everyone.

We're having lamb today too @joedenise. I'll still count it as free although it's more fatty than other meats 😋. Once Easter is over, I need to stop just being a bit over generous with syns. The other evening I ate a few dates. Not massively synful but they all count.
Curry was a big success last night. I tasted it in the morning and it seemed a bit bland ( I think it maybe because I've had the curry powder a while) so I put two chillies in it and fished them out later. It seemed to help. DH didn't mind the chickpeas either. A second portion is in the freezer. Oh and I had some mango chutney, more unaccounted for syns. AND I forgot to write the half Crunchie down yesterday. Oh dear!!
I was thinking @bubbs (dangerous I know😉). I don't think anyone wants to force you to eat food you don't like.🤣 I have heard that going off plan can shake things up but I think I'd only do that on holiday. You posted the other day that while you don't have a meal plan you do make a habit of having certain meals on certain days etc. I wonder if you had a change of menu it might help break the habit. You haven't had a pie for a while or sausage casserole or fish IIRC. Perhaps looking at menus online, might give you inspiration for things you could adapt or you've forgotten about. Just a thought. 🤔
Not sure about lunch as I have to go out in a moment. Will post menu later. 😊0 -
Morning all
Denise glad you are feeling better.
Maman the trouble is now the weather is warmer and will just get hotter, it is just too hot in here to have loads of hot dinners and the oven on, perhaps it seems like excuses but Denise will know how hot it gets inside. The other day, think it was friday was already 30 in here and that was with all windows and doors open. and these wasn't shut till 10.30 even the door 😏 I don't like food such as casseroles cooked in the slow cooker either
Also chicken is main part of my food as can have so many different ways, if we ate pasta and rice that would make a difference and most menus online are pasta or loads of carbsalso need something to fill me up so i don't eat rubbish
Today i will cook the chicken in the pressure cooker and we will have salad, doors were open again at just after 8. I have made some scotch eggs done in the acti fry but i am willing to listen to ideas as i am truly fed upSealed pot challenge number 003 £350 for 2015, 2016 £400 Actual£345, £400 for 2017 Actual £500:T:T £770 for 2018 £1295 for 2019:j:j spc number 22 £1,457Stopped Smoking 22/01/15:D:D::dance::dance:- 5 st 1 1/2lb :dance:0 -
Any recipes that appeal on this website @bubbs?
https://www.diabetes.org.uk/guide-to-diabetes/recipes
It's probably worth having a look at the diabetes website for lots of other ideas.
There are loads of websites with diabetes friendly recipes so probably worth a google.
Do you have a BBQ as that would mean that your food would taste different and also mean your lodge wouldn't get so hot as cooking outdoors! Things like char grilled chicken with char grill vegetables taste completely different to oven cooked chicken and veg for example.
If you have a cast iron casserole or dutch oven you could easily do curries etc on the BBQ too. If you have a gas BBQ with lid that is temperature controlled then you can do anything on it that you can cook in an oven.
Do you eat pulses at all? Although they are carby it seems from the diabetes website that they are still good for you as they don't spike the blood sugar levels.
A few ideas for you to think about.

Thanks Denise
No we don't do BBQs, no don't eat pulses

I hope you're right and the weather does stay hot @bubbs! I suppose it'll have to be salads for a while. My kitchen fortunately stays quite cool as the conservatory behind has roof blinds and the doors open in this weather.
I was thinking you could treat yourself to some fish. Personally I have either tinned or plain baked fillets but as you don't use all your syns you could afford to have batter or breadcrumbs once in a while. Didn't you used to have the cod in sauce?
I had a late lunch when I got back. I enjoyed my tuna jacket so much yesterday I decided to make my own and I know how much mayo today. 😁 It was quite a large tin so I have a portion left for later in the week. I didn't buy leaves this week so sliced some white cabbage thinly.
Today's EE plan-
B- HEB toast, HEA milk for drinks, scrambled eggs (P)
L- JP (F) , tuna (P), salad (S)
D- roast lamb (P), SW roast potatoes, parsnips, LM stuffing (F), carrots, cauli, broccoli, swede, red and green cabbages (S)
Syns- LTL mayo 1, HM gravy 4, weekend wine😊0 -

Hi everyone, I'm back!! I hope you've all had an enjoyable Easter Sunday.
I got home at 9.30am yesterday morning having travelled by coach overnight from Glasgow. Coach went to Edinburgh, Newcastle, Sheffield, Leeds before London, so not much rest had as every time it stopped all the lights went on and driver made an announcement! BIL was here and he cooked us brunch of WM toast, smashed avocado, poached egg and bacon which was lush.
We had pre-pandemic tickets to see Jimmy Carr with BFF and her DH which we finally got to do last night - could've done without it being 10pm-midnight in Hertfordshire though! Stayed at BFFs house with DH and got home around midday then off round BIL's for a BBQ. I have also had a bit of Easter egg.
I am shattered and need to get an early night. Will need to do a reccy of fridge, freezer and cupboards tomorrow to see what's in. I haven't had much fruit/veg these last few weeks and am needing to get back on plan from tomorrow.
Apologies as haven't had time to read back. Hope you're all doing okay.
