Why not? You pay an electric bill so you should get the government money surely! Or is that the the electric bill goes to the park and is then recharged by them to you?

Hi all,
Didn't manage to get on yesterday. Welcome back @joedenise and @annabanana82 - sorry to hear you have Covid. Hope you're okay?
Really unfair about your electricity @bubbs
I was me that won the raffle prize of potato and spinach gnocchi @Vegastare. I won't be making it though as you have to bake the potatoes for 1.5 hours, scoop out the middle then mix with the wilted spinach and put back in the oven. I'm not wasting electricity for something we may not even like! I will use the spinach up on breakfasts and the potatoes will be mashed for a quorn cottage pie tomorrow. Eggs will be used over the week, and I'll freeze the basil leaves. Everything else (passata, puree, nutmeg, garlic) will go into my stores.
We went out for breakfast yesterday to celebrate DS2's A level results. I had poached egg, 2 bacon, 1 sausage and beans. Apart from the sausage it was all free. We were invited to visit a friends' daughters house in the afternoon for tea and cake. I had a small scone plus a small piece of carrot cake. No dinner for me but did have a little cheese. Just didn't fancy anything. Back on plan today.
Food will be:
B - poached egg, spinach, 1 wm toast, grapes - P, S, 1/2 HEB
L - LO Mexican chicken, salad, pickles - 1, S
D - prawn and chilli spaghetti - free
HEA - milk
HEA - babybel cheese
1/2 HEB - hi fi bar
Have a good day all.

Morning all. I wouldn't bother making gnocchi either @Coxy11 - I just don't like it. But if you did want to try it you don't need to bake the potatoes for 1.5 hours in the oven you can just do them in the microwave. I think I'd be doing exactly what you have decided. It makes perfect sense to use what you can and anything which can be used later go into stores.
Have done a machine load of washing which is out on the line and almost dry even though there is hardly any wind although it is quite warm.
Today's plan:
B - Kellogg's no added sugar granola, milk - HEB/part HEA
L - egg salad - P; S
D - Lamb shank; potatoes; mange tout; green beans; cabbage - S; F; 2
HEA - milk
HEB - cereal
Syns - lamb shank
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all. Glad to hear you had a good time @joedenise but shame about the pub lunch - I really resent paying to eat out at the moment as it just doesn't seem to be worth it.
Sorry to hear you have covid @annabanana82 and that the cruise life wasn't for you. We're going on our first cruise next year and I'm worried that we're not going to enjoy it as much as a "traditional" trip. Hope you're feeling better soon.
The rising costs of things are getting ridiculous - my dad was supposed to retire this year at the age of 72 but now feels like he has to carry on working just to afford to pay the bills 😔
Last week at work before we go away and I've woken up with a sore throat, bit shivery and feeling a bit rubbish in general. Hopefully it's nothing that some lemsip and rest won't sort out, but at least it gives me an excuse to cancel one of my presentations this week. Lost the half a pound I put on last week which I'm happy with. Breakfast was some branflakes, lunch could be soup or salad depending on how I'm feeling and dinner is a chicken curry.
Hope everyone has a good day!

Hope you get whatever it is out of the way PDQ @ruby_eskimo. 😁 I've only been on one cruise and it was around various Caribbean islands. It worked out really well as we sailed by night and visited a different island each day.
It's difficult when you get invited to someone's home @Coxy11. I do hope you enjoyed the cakes.
I'm going to a friend's for lunch this week. It's generally a BBQ with a HM pudding. As I don't need to go to WI, I can risk syns in whatever's on offer but when we go out for an all day breakfast, I generally swap my sausage for DH's egg as he doesn't eat them.
I wouldn't bother with all that faff for gnocchi either. I'd rather have pasta. I agree with you @joedenise, what's the point in baking a potato in the oven if you're not going to eat the skin??🤔 I think SW need to start addressing cost. It's enough to pay for the group without expensive recipes on top.
I picked up the tip from the risotto and cooked the sausages for today when I had the oven on yesterday. I bought more cooking bacon this week too. This week's pieces are smoked gammon so perfect for lardons and such good value.
Today's EE plan-
B- HEB porridge, HEA milk, berries (S), banana (F)
L- cold meat (P), LO veg and beetroot (S), potato (F)
D- sausage casserole (F,S,P), pasta (F)
Syns- sausages0 -
I'm another who doesn't like gnocchi and would definitely use the ingredients as you plan @Coxy11
Hope you feel better soon @annabanana82 and @ruby_eskimo it doesn't come to anything
I felt cold last night so put a fleece on and ended up with a blanket over my knees which worries me as this is only August, what will it be like in October with heating costs?!!
Today's plan:
B - bran flakes (HEXB), strawberries and yoghurt (0.5 syns)
L - ham salad with pickles, nectarines and melon for mid afternoon snack
D - chicken curry with rice (loads of speed added)
Have a good day all.0
