That's better @bubbs. Anything is worth a try and I know you got to target with plenty of Saturday Syns. You must have missed the Yorkshires. 😁

Back home now after a lovely weekend.  We ended up eating out both Friday and Saturday lunchtimes.  I've already posted about Friday's  which was lovely and within syns.  The evening definitely took me well over syns!

Lunch yesterday was really disappointing.  It was at a pub we've been to before a couple of times and had pretty good meals but yesterday I chose something different and wished I hadn't bothered!  I chose a mini mixed grill - 2 chicken breasts, a gammon steak topped with pineapple and fried egg, 2 sausages (one DH ate and the other I left), mixed salad with dressing on the side.  Looking at that it sounds pretty SW friendly but I actually ended up only eating a little bit of the salad, the fried egg, pineapple and gammon.

When I cut into the first piece of chicken breast it wasn't cooked properly so I sent it back - I think they must have sat the plate on the grill while they recooked the same 2 bits of chicken!  I know it was the same plate as the few splashes of salad dressing I'd put on was still there!  The lettuce however was very limp as you'd expect and I really couldn't face eating the chicken after being reheated!  We won't be using that pub again.

Have counted up my syns so far this week and have pulled back enough so that I'm within syns for the 5 days so far and doubt I'll be having too many syns between now and Wednesday WI so hopefully will get a small loss or at least a maintain.  Doesn't look like I'll be getting below target which I was hoping for before our holiday but at least I'm still in target range!

    Today's plan:

    B - fry up with low fat sausage & bacon - P; S; F; 1
L - had very late breakfast so probably won't have anything
    D - sausage cassoulet - P; S; F 1

    HEA - milk
HEB - nothing planned but if I want something later still have 2nd HEA so could have cheese sandwich
Syns - low fat sausages 2

@Vegastare - it was @Coxy11 who won the gnochi recipe in the recipe but I've had a look and there are a couple of recipes on the website, both of which are Free.

Well done everyone who's had a loss this week; sorry it didn't happen for you @bubbs but at least it wasn't a gain.  I know how frustrating it can be with keep maintaining.  Might be worth trying some new recipes to try and mix things up a bit.  Not sure if you like spicy things but if you do that's supposed to help with weight loss so could be worth a try - not much use though if you don't "do" spice!

Sorry if I've missed anything but I've only skim read the previous posts!

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Glad you enjoyed your weekend away but what a disappointment for your pub lunch @joedenise. I think it's a mixture of saving money and having problems getting/keeping staff. I can't see it getting any better as costs keep rising and probably fewer people eating out.

You've done really well to keep within syns overall since WI and it'll be so much easier now you're home. 😊
  • Hi all,

I'm back from holiday, it was lovely but cruises just aren't for us we prefer to be on land exploring a new country. I ate way too many puddings, but I did manage to use the stairs all bar once.
I did unfortunately bring home an unwanted souvenir of covid, my first and hopefully last experience of it. This will mean that I'll miss WI tomorrow but the scales at home indicate a 2lb loss.
I think my DD I'd hoping for a week off too, she started well but enjoyed the buffet a little too much towards the end of the week - that said much of it was salads and fruit so hopefully not too many hidden syns in those.

I've not caught up on the past 10+ pages just yet

Meant to say @maman about the electric I suspect it was the amount including the standing charges as I've noticed mine is the similar first thing in the morning.  I checked it in the early hours a couple of weeks ago when I needed to get up to go to the loo and it was registering 78p (I think it was) so assume the standing charges go on shortly after midnight which is why it's a high figure when you first get up.

I think you're right about rising prices and problems with staffing.  It's such a shame.  I still have another voucher to use for another pub in the chain so will be trying one closer to home rather than one while we're away in the motorhome.

Sorry to hear you have covid @annabanana82 but well done of seeing a loss on your own scales after a cruise - you must have been really good as most people end up gaining loads!  I know I tend to put on a fair bit when we go on an all inclusive holiday which then takes a couple of weeks or more to lose!

So pleased you enjoyed your roast @bubbs,  despite the heat.

Welcome back @annabanana82. That's really good going for a cruise.  You must have made some very wise choices. 👍

Thanks for confirming about the standing charge @joedenise. I couldn't believe we were using so much electricity while asleep. Not happy about spending £30 a month before anything is switched on though. At the moment we're using minimal gas,  just showers and the odd other bits of hot water. Scary what it will look like when we need heating.☹️

I think we're all dreading the upcoming price increases.  Even with the extra we're getting from the government we're still going to feel the pinch.  The thing which is going to have to give for us will be our all inclusive holidays - I'm sure the price of those will go some way towards the extra costs but that doesn't help this year as they are already booked (and thankfully) paid for already - or at least the money has been put away.

Will have to wait and see how much the actual increases are and then decide what holidays we can afford going forward.  At least our motorhome holidays don't cost us much more than spending time at home and of course we save a bit in gas and electric when we are away as only paying the standing charges plus a bit of electric for the fridge/freezer, outside freezer and keeping the heat in the water bed - all of which cut in and out during the day and night so not on permanently.

That's a long fix your mum's got @bubbs - didn't' know any of the power companies did fixes as long as that!
