At least you brought the subject out in the open @bubbs. 🤞your mum doesn't weaken and pushes for her knee op when she sees GP. It's not as if it will happen immediately so he'll have time to get used to the idea.

I do feel for your dad and all that's happened to him in a short time but he's not helping himself at all, just letting your mum do everything for him. ☹️

We had fake KFC tonight too. Maybe I need to stop counting it as syn free. 🤔

Mum can't leave her knee, it is really grinding bone on bone and keeps moving and she has to push it back 😫 also an hr after getting up her feet really swell up so she is mentioning that to.

TBF she has always done everything for him , just doing more with his bag now, he has always done everything outside

I agree with @maman.  I think you hit the nail on the head @bubbs when you asked your dad if he was worried/scared - that's probably the problem.  Has he learned to change his bag himself or is he still expecting your mum to do it?  It's something he really needs to learn to do himself.  Perhaps that's one of the things he's worried about if your mum does have her knee done.

I do hope she keeps strong when she has her Dr's appointment and gets referred to have her knee sorted.  The longer it goes on the longer it takes for healing unfortunately.

@maman - I've started being good with the actual counting of syns for things like KFC - I think by changing to panko crumbs last time I didn't feel I could count it as Free, unlike the potato powder which of course did used to be Free!

Denise, i do think it's an anxiety thing which he has never suffered from before and i said this to Mum.

No he does not do the bag himself as can't see that well to do it and i do think he is scared about explosions, had one Weds again :( don't know what will happen when she has her knee done. Mum has had both hips done so knows what she is in for.

Oh she will tell the doctor she wouldn't suffer yesterdays nastiness from dad not to say anything, (this is why he was nasty because of the docs appointment)

Oh he also had other cataract date for 24th Oct

October seems a long way off now but perhaps when your dad can see better he'll have more confidence to manage himself. 🤔 It's really difficult for their generation with such defined men/women roles.

My DH is one of 11 children and the first 4 are boys so MIL made sure they were domesticated to help with the younger children. My DH is #3 so can do anything. 👏

It's hard @joedenise to get our heads around the things that have changed over time with SW. Next month I will have been at target for 11 years and there's a tendency to think that what worked then should still work now. Do you think they've changed the recipe for instant mash that much? Or that baked beans have lost their protein content? 🤔🤣

@Vegastare - which LF yoghurt did you have as that will need to be synned.  It is only natural fat free which is Free.  It will probably only be half or 1 syn probably unless you had loads!

I'm safe it is Lancashire Farms fat free yoghurt....just run to the fridge thinking I got full fat - but no it's ok.

Good job to as it's a very large tub.

Do appreciate folks picking up on things for me, it really helps.

Chicken tomorrow not sure what yet...hubby loves sauces etc tomato went down ok - but them a bit of instant gravy would shut him up.

Not helpful with chicken @Vegastare but, if your DH likes beef, look up the Hairy Bikers braised steak recipe. It makes the most delicious gravy and it's almost syn free. Just a tsp of cornflour shared. 😋

its 12 weeks or so and they said it won't be ready to do till then, they sent for him last week but no point if it is not ready.
TBH i don't think he will be able to do it, but might surprise me.

I do everything too, dh does outdoor and DIY although he will do housework , but never cooks, irons etc although he did try when i had my hands done and trying was the word 🤣
