Chase 1.5% Easy Access

I don't think any current or savings account makes me super happy, but I can't say I have complaints about Chase. I just use them because they have, with one or two exceptions, the best cashback I can get, and definitely the best instant access account available right now. As and if this changes, I'll be off to the place where I get better.YKS90 said:People don't seem super happy with Chase? I'm in two minds here.On one hand I'm saving for a mortgage so have some spare money sitting in a 0% HSBC current account doing nothing so the 1.5% would be nice. Easy access seems like the best choice in this scenario as I don't want to see the perfect house but then be unable to get my money out of an account. The likelyhood of this happening in a year is slim but it might happen. On the other hand is the interest on a few thousand worth it if I'm withdrawing in under a year and could a locked in 1 year account be worth the risk for a couple of hundred more in interest over the year?
I haven't seen a need in many years to have instant-access money sitting in current accounts that pay no interest. For the last decade or so, there have always been some current accounts that pay interest, and obviously also a range of savings accounts. To me, using the Chase 1.5% saver account is a no brainer, unless you have technical reasons or no passport/DL. Unless you have a better cashback/rewards account, or need Section 75 protection, it's also a no brainer to use the Chase debit card for spending for 12 months.0 -

How long does it take to get a new account approved? I applied 3 weeks ago and still waiting. App says it could take 24 hours!! Not had anything from them to suggest there is an issue though

That's a relief. I applied on Sunday and was getting worried that I hadn't had a reply yet. I thought perhaps they'd uncovered my shady past (!). Instead it just appears they've bitten off more than they can chew.TheKing123_2 said:How long does it take to get a new account approved? I applied 3 weeks ago and still waiting. I would call or email them and ask. 0800 376 3333 or ChaseSupportUK@chase.com0

My wife applied yesterday and it took 24 hours to approve and open account
Definitely worth contacting them0 -
Spoke to them and they said they are really busy and it's in a referral queue and there's nothing they can do to expedite. What a joke

I opened my account without a referral code and it took less than an hour.0

I didn't use a referral code either - I think the guy meant it was referred for manual checking
