That is a really helpful comment, I have written in the front of my diary to remind me. The point of this time off is improvement. I like it.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I find it easy to get overwhelmed so try to frame it as progress not perfection. Doesn't always work but I find it helpful a lot of time.
Pay out Friday - almost £50 into the FIF.
OH and I have both had emails from NW saying we will get the £50 payment. In about a month should also get £150 switching bonus which is nice - then I can see what other switches are available :-)
We have a plan for growing veg this year - need to borrow rotovator from parents then can get started.
OH has next Friday booked off so we are planning to get to NT with my parents if they are available for a wander and to have pasties for lunch!
I want to take out lifetime NT membership - we are 47 / 48 so hopefully have a good long time to enjoy it. My rationalise is that it will future-proof days out for retirement. Even if we are skint, we can go to a NT property with a flask of tea and have a cheap / free day out. I want to check if I can pay for it using gift cards (it's how I bought this year's membership) as I can buy the gift card and get 6% discount through work scheme which would be a sizeable chunk.4 -
The lifetime membership is a great deal - you'll make it back just on the savings on parking charges 😳!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days
Total amount repaid: £72,307.03. £1.10 repaid for every £1.00 borrowed
Finally earning interest instead of paying it!!!3 -
I like your reframing too.
I wish I'd bought the lifetime membership early in life...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Day out at NT with parents - lovely day, had lunch out and confirmed we can use gift cards to buy lifetime membership so that will save over £170 I think.
Almost £40 sent to FIF, now standing at almost £400.
Ebay sale of £120 for something for parents - male oldie has told me we will split 50/50 so will need to have that discussion (argument) at a later date!4 -
You've got me thinking about lifetime membership now myself.... It would take me 24 years break even v the cost of annual membership, but that's obviously based on 2025 prices, which will only go up in the future 🤔Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

We bit the bullet and did it today - bought gift cards through work discount scheme and got 8% which equated to c£230
FIF transfer today (missed doing it on Friday) £98 - total now almost £500.
Payday so money squirreled into ISAs before end of tax year.
4-day weekend, not looking forward to work tomorrow but the sun is shining today.5 -
Mortgage - £290,243Reduction of £1,169
Will be in the £280s next month and have around £12k in savings accumulated, although next month this may reduce due to CC bill including NT membership but happy with that.
Doing some stealth decluttering - cleared a storage box of cleaning products and recycled the cardboard box it was stood on top of, both of which we had been tripping over for months. Today plan to clear paperwork in the living room - most is in Mr CCW name so needs his input, just had to tackle it a few pages at a time!
Waiting on £150 switch bonus due any day (today by my calculations but no sign yet, not that I'm impatient!)5 -
Excellent reduction 👏😊
Well done for the decluttering too 😊 Hoping Mr CCW continues to engage … 🤞
