£38 into FIF on Saturday.  Lovely day out at NT place yesterday - took a picnic of LO Olio food and a flask of tea, bought three books, cheap day out!

4-day week then 5-day weekend as my non-working day falls on a bank holiday so have moved that to next Tuesday.

Went to a big B&M with a garden centre, struggled to find it as it was on the end of an aisle rather than with all the other compost. Expensive trip as we stocked up on bird feed and I found a bottle of my fave brand of gin rather cheap.

I'm loving watching the birds currently in my garden. They brighten my day - and sound like they do yours too.

Situation with parent's health seems to be evolving - we had significant change / deterioration, followed by improvement, followed by some regression.  Puts things into perspective.  Had an unexpected / emergency trip to see them and was away for three days.

That said, I'm still focussed on FIRE so I can enjoy a financially independent life; parent has always managed the work / life balance incredibly well!

Into the £280s with the mortgage!!

£42 into FIF, squeaky month as have raided savings to pay a huge one-off credit card bill so £55 in savings; plenty in ISAs but don't want to touch if I don't need to.

Seen a job I really want to apply for - plays into my skillset and interests, working for an organisation I admire.  Need to spend time this weekend updating CV and crafting my covering letter / statement.  Whilst I have experience of the type of work, it has been gained during other seemingly non-related roles so I need to really draw it out without exaggerating.

They have also said experience of a certain programme would be an advantage - OH has access to free training which includes this programme so I also need to spend some time on that which will help my application and I can use it in my own life / current role as well.

It would however be quite a big drop (back to what I was earning in 2020/21 so I am looking at the intervening years as an anomaly) so we would need to factor that into our budget.

Up early today; the car is charging and we've got cheap rate until 9.00 so put another load of washing on.  Going to go to Park Yoga for first time; I really need to find ways to help my mental health at the moment.

Need to get on top of things here - OH did well whilst I was away but there were so many things happening (food delivery, rubbish and recycling) which I would have organised had I been here so things have got rather behind.

Decided I really need to set up my office in a spare room so this year we need to get the bedrooms sorted - OH and I often sleep separately so we need one room each, plus one is set up for my sideline which leaves one for my office in theory.  Will take a fair bit of work but hopefully we can shuffle things to get to that point.

Starting the process of sorting upstairs today. The room we will move into for "our" bedroom is above the kitchen. When I rip out the carpet, we need to take floorboards up to put ceiling lights in kitchen. Yet again it's that "9th square" thing of everything being inter-dependent and nothing being a standalone job!

Clearing the room today, got a small unit to go to tip and lots of other stuff so will take that all tomorrow morning. Need to do ruthless!

Got some storage boxes from IKEA so I can empty the suitcases in the airing cupboard and take at least two of the to the dump as the cats have clawed right through them 🙄

Then duvets and spare clothes can go in the airing cupboard as we have no usable loft space.

ETA small OAT dealt with today, registered guarantee on a faulty clothes steamer so I can get that raised as an issue and repaired / replaced.

Did the tip run yesterday as car was full - will need to go again as I only managed to rip out 1/4 of the carpet but it's a start and the unit went so that is out of the way.  2 suitcases sorted, contents stored and suitcases taken to tip - one to go.

Non working day today in lieu of BH yesterday, OH has booked day off.  Plan was to go out to NT with parents but that's not possible so we are going to go to a local one which closes over the winter and on Fridays so never been able to make it.  Then out for dinner and a gig tonight.
