Road Tax on EV's

Yes loads. Including Tesco’s and some retail parks. The free ones are usually 7kw or 3.6 kw chargers that require your own lead to plug on. It’s the fast chargers you usually pay for.MouldyOldDough said:And are there still some places where you can charge for free - ie) Shopping centres or similar ?

Winner.Lucky for you that diesel is also free!Scottish Borders still has free chargers (including rapids), though this will change fairly soon I think. Edinburgh also has some free chargers on the ring road, though some you have to pay for (guess which have queues). You can also get 15mins of free lecy at a nearby Tesco!1

And is available to you at zero cost - since you already own it......Deleted_User said:My 2014 Focus 1.6 diesel is zero tax and still is. Winner.
A big plus point that appears to be forgotten by most people
If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.0 -
On the other hand it will cost you 17p per mile at current prices and it comes with all the ongoing maintenance costs of running an 8 year old diesel. By the time you've done 8,000 miles, passed the MOT and had a service you're looking at ~ £2000 for the year. That compares rather unfavourably to what a year of owning a brand new EV has cost me.MouldyOldDough said:

What did that IC vehicle cost in the first place? And what has been the lifetime cost of ownership?
If you're going to try and make comparisons, please be consistent.
