Great news, pigpen, so pleased for you and for Dot x
ASB, we get you, honey x
Mademoiselle - so glad to read what you wrote about funerals - I mostly feel the same way, and always think that I am the only one. DH seems to love to go to a funeral, even if he hasn’t seen or spoken to the person for 30 years - just as he did last week.Kitchen dailies done, dinner prepped for tomorrow to be thrown in sc before work, or instructions for sc to be thrown at DH before I go to work - preferable option. I might attempt HHP in a bit, as DH has the laptop on. Really cba though, as usual.7 -
Oh wow, brilliant news Pigpen.
ASB oh I understand. I sometimes think I am on a completely different planet to some of my family.
So, completely unhelpful conversation with practice nurse at doctors about my irritated bladder, waste of time. Paid stuff done, sheets out of the line, finished in tumbler, ironed and put away. Upstairs hoovered, rest of clean washing put away. Mopped kitchen floor because I knocked the dogs water bowl all over, but it needed doing.
DS2 is coming home for a visit at the weekend, we are taking him to the seaside which we were going to do at Christmas when he got Covid. Cant wait to give him a big squishy hug.
Much love to all, downhill to the weekend now x9 -
Well done Pigpen on the EHCP for Dot, I know it takes family support/pressure to make sure students are getting the support they need. You are an excellent advocate for your kids. I would recommend a school with a separate but integrated unit as I teach in one. It allows students to have the support they need whilst also playing a role in the wider life of the school. ASB you're right not to listen to the outsiders, every family makes their own choices that are best for them.
I'm doing a mammoth cook right now for the freezer, have sent flowers to an ill colleague/friend for my dept and emptied the hoover. Baby steps 😂9 -
Great news Pigpen
ASB sounds to me as if you are giving your children some great values and a good life.
Still writing the report of the lady with every condition under the sun, so didn't take up the 'you have a place' for BodyPump (I've been on the waiting list) this morning. Just as well, as my afternoon (remote) student hadn't received the link for his assessment. I sent it 3 times by email, had double checked with admin yesterday as his name was unusual so I wanted to make sure I hadn't spelled it wrong. Tried sending a WhatsA** then a text - phone number not recognised. Tried ringing same number and got through to him......fortunately the Zoom side of things went ok.
Filled bird feeders.
Did scant bit of washing up and tidying.
Went for a run after the assessment, feeling guilty after missing bodypump. It was a lovely evening so I was glad I'd gone.
Caught up with some admin.
Got thoroughly depressed over the news.
Watched the song I'm meant to be practising and banged hands on my desk instead of plugging the drum kit in (too tired, too late and too pathetic!).Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.8 -

Morning all.
ASB, I get you. We've relations who think we are crazy living like church mice, when we could both get "proper" jobs and have plenty of money. But all the money in the world cannot buy time. Time to walk outside, time to play with the grandchildren, time to grow plants and animals. Don't worry about what people think in the real world, here you've lots of friends to support you, however you choose to lives your life.
To all those who are at the paid stuff, I hope you have an easy day.
Pigpen, so glad you're sorted with Dot.
Had a busy start today. Didn't sleep well, sorted insurance for DD3s car. Now they have sent her a black box! That wasn't mentioned. She often works till 10:30pm so it's driving home till eleven. Can't do that with a black box! Spent a lot of the night awake, worrying about it. Will phone them today. Three grandchildren work us at six! Had to get them up, feed them, ( porridge with blackberries, yogurt and toast) make lunches, dress them and get two to breakfast club, all by eight o clock. Also managed to unload and load the dishwasher. Flying? More like crawling now!
For those that are interested, their mum was asleep, worked until the early hours, their dad was in bed! At least we get paid for looking after them.
Right off to the phone, hugs to all, mumtoomany.xxFrugal Living Challenge 2025.8 -
Good morning everyone
Lovely sunny day here so doors open and enjoying fresh air and sunshine
Bed made, clothes picked up, room aired
Washing folded and put away
DW sorted
Packed for 3 days at the other house
Keys sorted for estate agent
House tidy except kitchen which I'll do after lunch.
I need to go to get OH prescription, why couldn't he have noticed yesterday when I went for mine.
Hoover upstairs and down
Wash downstairs floors as cats found the fat from our dinner last night and had to chase it around the kitchen floor before eating it. But will do that after we've had lunch8 -
Morning all,
Thank you for being so kind. I can take a lot of stuff on the chin, but it was coming from my mum which really got to me... @mumtoomany you put it so well. I am banging my head against a brick wall trying to explain to them that I prefer time over money and "stuff"...
Anyway, today is a NEW day. I was up early seeing to the chickens and ducks (we had 10 eggs yesterday and two of our girls laid us their gorgeous blue eggs... made my heart happy), and the children went at 8.25 as usual. I have chopped up lots of old raised bed wood for kindling, so we have a healthy stash. I was given two pallets that also need chopping, but my electric saw blade is a bit blunt so it was taking waaaay longer than it should to cut them, and my hand ached by that point, so I have come inside for a cuppa and slice of HM cake. I have done some bits of admin - applied for our CPH number and checked the latest council tax bill. There is also a load of washing on the line.
Dinner tonight will be lots of picky leftovers put out on plates - Piggers, I agree with calling it a "buffet" the kids seem to enjoy it all the more, and it hides the fact it's loads of random bits slung together!
Take care all xx8 -
ASB .. my mother is a nightmare when it comes to things like raising a child with disabilities or gay/trans.. she has some very outdated philosophies.. She thinks hitting Dot will beat the ADHD out of her I'm sure.. she is also a hoarder.. thanks for that mother!! So life is an ongoing battle because stuff = love, security, safety etc.. A cycle I have yet failed to break.. off to list some more in a minute.. mothers are a particularly hard breed to deal with.. I find it really hard to say no but I know exactly why.. she doesn't like me and I am trying in vain to gain approval and I am simply not ever going to achieve that but my inner 3 year old doesn't realise it. I try really hard to placate the 3 year old but in the end she usually wins.. Stay strong doing what is right for you and your family xx ((hugs))worksheets printed for todays and tomorrows lessonsSqueak and OH planting seeds for the greenhouse/garden..
I need to ring the paed secretaries for Twinkles blood results but I am a bit scared of what they might say.. I need to just do it quick like ripping off a plaster and get it over with.. when I've hung out the washing.. lol...
I have trapped wind tummy ache today... so I may go to my trusty old friend.. 6 rennies and a glass of boiling water..I MUST post parcels today and I MUST wash my hair, it is a bit nasty..
First thing though.. vacuum the bedroom, or what I can see of it before OH logs in for work!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)8
