Happy birthday @ladyholly! Xx2

Its been an expensive week. On Thursday morning I was just in the middle of a survey and the computer died. No pop or bang just nothing except silence from the fan. Apparently the power supply went taking out the hard drive etc. As we use it a lot we visited the computer shop that we have used for many years and they have built a new one to mr LHs spec. We collected it yesterday and mr LH spent until about 5am this morning reloading everything. That was £450 that we wont see again. Coming on top of the rust proofing of the car at the end of the month the bank is looking very sad. I have actually used the credit card to pay for the computer but will pay it off when the bill comes. I couldnt get into internet banking to transfer money so this was a better option than paying overdraft fees until I could get on line.Did the bil visit on Wednesday arriving half an hour late as I literally stepped out of the lift on the platform and the train left the station, the next one was cancelled so ended up on a very slow stopping train. On the way back the first train arrived more or less on time so changed platforms for the next one only for the platform to be changed at the last minute to the one I had just left. Got onto the platform and asked one of the 3 railway chaps standing next to the train if it was the right one. It was but he told me to hurry up and flustered me so in trying to hurry I ended up going underneath what was like a waterfall coming off the station roof and then falling as I got on the train, I wasn't hurt but was soaked through. What annoyed me the 3 railway staff next to the train didnt even check I was OK and it was a passenger that helped me up and moved my case for me. Still I got home on time and by that time I had dried out.Today I have cleaned out Bears paddling pool as he isnt using it and there was algae in it and also planted some cyclamen that my bil gave me when I was down there. he assures me they will grow but at the moment dont look very promising. We weill see next year. I have also done a bit of ebay listing which is the first I have done for some time as my mojo disappeared. Still a bit to do but will finish it tomorrow. The weather has been changeable to say the least, one minute warm sunshine and the next absolutely pouring down but I have managed to avoid getting wet. I think that should have bored you enough so have a quiet night.3

Ouch to the expensive week.
Sorry you had a tough day visiting BIL. Shameful that the staff didn't help when you fell.
Cyclamen spreads like anything in our garden, so hope yours survives."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee1 -
What a stressful train journey 😞 I find it really difficult to know whether I’m on the right train whenever I use them, no one else seems to know, even if they’re getting on that particular train and there never seem to be any staff around to ask, so frustrating.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

Oh dear @ladyholly what a rotten couple of days you've had!
I can't face going anywhere by train on my own, for the very reasons you mention - changing platforms back and fore and staff who don't know what they're supposed to be doing and are most unhelpful. I'm astonished they didn't help you when you fell, lucky that a kind passenger came to your aid - a fall can't half shake you up
Like @jwil I find cyclamens do very well in our garden, although they don't look very promising when not in their flowering season. I'm sure yours will do fine - mine like a shady spot if possible xx1 -
Thank you all. I dont mind the train too much when it runs to time but wish the seats werent made for short people. I am only 5ft 7ins but find there is very little leg room so when I get up I am very stiff and usually have to hobble off the train. Changing platforms isnt usually too hard as one has lifts, one only has an up and down platform so no change. The little station I use on the outward journey has steps but as I have an empty case and am relatively fresh it isnt to bad. The worst one is my home station which has a very long steep ramp which seems to go on forever. The journeys are essential as my bil has no family and his friends are either a long way away (USA), very elderly or have died. I think my sister would be glad I do go down as often as I can but I must admit the journey is getting harder.I have planted the cyclamen in shady spots as I was told and as they are in pots except two they cant spread.I have had a very lazy day today and feel a bit better for it although my arthritis is very painful at the moment. I do wish my GP would let me make an appointment rather than ringing me as i dont want to talk when mr LH is around as he then starts fussing and worrying and generally being difficult. If I answer the phone he has to know who it is and then often listens to my side of the coversation. I did do some listing on ebay so hopefully that will result in a £ or two.Going to settle down now in the conservatorywith my Clive Cussler book having finished a David Baldacci. Hope the week goes well for all.5

Glad you are feeling a bit better and hope you enjoyed your book!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2

The book was excellent thanks. I do like Clive Cussler and was very sad when he died. I have been very naughty and have ordered several book from world of books. I am calling a a late birthday present to me.Bear was very odd on his secure field time yesterday as he was very uncooperative and realy didnt want to do anything. I think it was a bit hot for him and coming after the recent cooler weather he couldnt cope very well. Today he has been very good, walked beautifully and even went nose to nose with a lab he has growled at before. ( It belongs to a friend who is quite dog savvy so they dont panic if things dont go so well). He has managed to lose his tag today so a new one is now on order.Money seems to be going ok and after soime number crunching I will have enough to pay the rust proofing and the credit card in the next month or so as long as the rust isnt any worse than mr LH thinks.Shopping done today but I will have to go to S*******y later in the week for some things that were out of stock at T es**.I have done a bit of housework today as I havent been too bad and my thoughts are starting to turn to Christmas (sorry) and as we have a huge lavender plant in the garden I am going to dry some and make some lavender bags for a couple of friends who like the smell as part of their present. I will have to hand sew them as I dont have a machine but they are only small so shouldnt take too long. That is as long as I can get a couple of needle threaders.Must finish here as Bear is nagging me to come and play. Have a good night.5

Buying books is never naughty! They bring hours of pleasure. I've read a couple of Clive Cussler and enjoyed them.
All seems to be going well with Bear (we all have grumpy uncooperative days)."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2 -
My new books arrived this morning and even better Bear barking at the postman didnt wake mr LH so he doesnt know about them. He complains I have too many books so gets stroppy when I get new ones but I actually keep very few. They either get sold, passed on or taken to the charity shop.I found a pair of shoes at half price yesterday so am very happy about that and the amount saved is almost the same as the cost of my books. I dont actually need the shoes yet so have put them away until I do. I do miss wearing nice shoes but have to have lace up or buckles or they fall off due to the way I walk. Two loads of washing done today and about an hours worth of the dreaded ironing. As the fine weather is supposed to diappear tomorrow I have even mowed the lawn . I think I may suffer for todays activity tomorrow.Well thats my day and now looking forward to bedtime. Have a good weekend.5
