Mr LH maged the car ok except for forgetting to change gear a couple of times. It looks abit of a shed but goes well so thats all that counts. We will have it a bit longer than planned because the ramp at the company doing the rust proofing has broken. It was being fixed when they rang us so hopefully will only be an extra day.Having got up at 4.30 this morning no shopping was done so that is a job for tomorrow. There is also an ebay sale being collected tomorrow lunchtime.Jobs done today hoovered right through the house much to Bears disgust, swept the driveway while there was no car on it. Bathroom given a good clean plus the usual dog walks and meal prep.Tomorrow we have thunder forecast so that may put a stop to the shopping as we cant leave Bear on his own and it has started raining already.Very tired now so an early night is on the cards.1

In view of the weather forecast of thunder yesterday we made a very quick trip to local supermarket and put some petrol in the loan car. Then mnot a sign of thunder and was actually quite sunny. Nothing much else done as a friend visited which was nice. Today mr LH went out to buy something came back and the loan car has gone into limp mode. Rang the place thats doing the rust proofing but as it was after 5pm they had finished so rang the RAC who came out within an hour but couldnt do anything so they are sorting it to be relayed back tomorrow and will take mr LH to collect ours. I just hope it all works out ok. I have been teasing mr LH that he cant be trusted not to break things. Shame he put the petrol in.A little bit more weeding done but getting much done is hard as mr LH keeps getting up early ( I think due to stress about the car) and once he is up nothing much happens as if I am not around he comes hunting me and wanting stuff so it is a waste of time starting things.I have also started to sort out the cupboards in my bedroom as that is where I store all the stuff I am selling plus all the things that you normally find in the bedroom so it is somewhat stacked out. There is going to be a jumble trail locally at the end of August and I am thinking of putting out the books that havent sold with an honesty box. Mr LH will be away so because of Bear I cant have a proper stall as I cant leave him for the length of time that is needed. I am hoping that one or two people do it round here so it wouldnt look too stupid on its own. I wil have a think. It wont make a lot but at least I know that people would enjoy the books.Another friend came round today mainly to see Bear as she thinks the world of him and keeps saying that she would have him if anything happened to us but we have pointed out that he is too strong for someone who is much more disabled than me which she does agree with.No money spent today which is good news but Mr LH showed me his shoes and he definately needs a new pair so I will pop out tomorrow to get him a new pair.Another exciting day chez ladyholly!!!!3

Good money win today. As compensation for the loan car breaking down and the work being a day late we have had a reduction of almost 10% on the rust proofing. That will give us just enough to pay the computer credit card bill so I will be able to restart the fund for the hallway and stairs. It will be next year before we have enough assuming mr LH doesn't find something more Important that replacing a carpet that is literally in holes.4

Good news on the 10% & it paying the computer CC.

Great news about the 10% discount on the car bill, and that covering the computer bill as well.
Hope you get the carpet sorted. A damaged stair carpet could be risky for falls, so hopefully Mr LH will prioritise it."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee1 -
Very proud Bear owners today. He met with two springer spaniel puppies, a terrier. a mixed breed and a dog friend that he knows and was excellently behaved. The puppies were very gentle and laid back especially for springers. The owner was very dog savvy and had been traing them even before they could go for walks. The other dogs are also quiet. This was a contrast to yesterday when I took Bear out on my own at lunchtime. We went earlier than usual and the park area had 10 dogs playing. He was doing ok until a friend came over to say hello and one of the dogs followed her. That was it and I literally had to drag Bear towards home he was so wound up and trying to pull me off my feet. He needs to be introduced quietly one or two at a time. Large bouncy dogs are very hard for hime to cope with. He doesnt understand dogs playing at all and just looks confused as what is going on. Although we didnt walk too far today he had alot of mental work meeting the new dogs as we spent a while talkintg to the various owners.I think I have spent most of what we saved yesterday in buying mr LH a pair of shoes. I dont begrudge them because he is not heavy on shoes (unlike me), he urgently needed them as his old one are all worn out, they are good solid winter shoes and waterproof. I was just a bit shocked at the price.I think we have missed much of todays storm as it has been a bit breezy and had some heavy showers but thats all. Tomorrow is supposed to be better so might carry on with a bit of weeding. I think they are growing faster than I can pull them up.3

Well done Bear.
Good shoes are expensive but a need.

@ladyholly Well done Bear for being such a good boy
Another one here agreeing with @jwil and @beanielou re. damaged carpet and the necessity of good shoes - I know a couple of people who have slipped on worn stair carpet and injured themselves, having broken my hip following a fall last autumn and being slow healing I wouldn't wish anybody a fracture or break. Re. good shoes, my daughters laugh at my choices of footwear these days but better safe than sorry I tell them. My grandfather always told me to look after my feet, they probably take more stress that a lot of our other bodily parts! xx1 -
'Large bouncy dogs' are hard for me to cope with too, @ladyholly, so I'm absolutely with Bear on that one! The biggest of my sis-in-law's dogs jumps up at me & with his paws on my shoulders & me at only 5'3 & a quarter ins, it is quite scary as he is taller than me when he is vertical. He is a 'gentle giant' kind of a dog & not aggressive, but he is still too large & bouncy for me!

Sorry to be prescriptive and bossy but no dog should be allowed to get away with jumping up at people. It is something I always actively discourage when we are out and about. I have probably upset and annoyed more than one owner when I turn away from their dog and tell them no even the small ones. There are many people who are scared of or dont like dogs and it isnt fair on them. It is one behaviour that none of ours have ever shown probably because they quickly realise it isnt acceptable. Your sil should be stopping it. It is scary for you as an adult but what if you were a child and the dog pushed you over. It would then be standng over a child who would probably cry and move suddenly both of which can be triggers for agression even in a placid dfog.
