Just a thought. No need for a response. Some friends of mine got an inheritance that allowed them to buy a bungalow and do it up to their requirements, then they moved in gradually and then sold their own house. It took all the pressure off having to pack up and clear out in a short period of time.3

Fabulous idea, I'd love to be in a position to do this again (haven't been ableto buy but was given access to a family home before our official move in date, made things sooooo much easier)22: 3🏅 4⭐ 23: 5🏅 6 ⭐ 24 1🏅 2⭐ 25 🏅 🥈 Never save something for a special occasion. Very relieved for you, fingers crossed nothing else crops up to worry you. I can hear the champagne bubbles readying themselves 🥂1

Evening allWe have considered moving but like where we live and to get a suitable suitable bungalow we would almost certainly have to move either up the hill (not good for me) or to the other end of town both of which would be a long way from any shops and it would be a walk to the bus which runs less often. Most of the bungalows in my area are only 2 bedrooms which would not suit Mr LH.I have signed the direct debit form for the council tax and tried to do the same for the water but the on line form jams up when I get to the stupid capcha picture so will have to ring on Monday. I have always avoided putting these on dd so I could pay a little late if needed. Our finances even without the inheritance are in a much better place so dont need that leeway. It would also make it easier for Mr LH if anything happens to me as he doesnt have a clue about our money. Some sorting out of stuff today. I am trying to reclaim the bedroom from being a storage area. There is a lot of paperwork from bil but will have to wait until I am sure everything is sorted before shredding it all. Some I will pass on to our buyers as it may be intersting or useful to them.We have finished taking stuff out of the garage at last and now have a large pile to go to the tip, hopefully next week if I can spur Mr LH on to do it. I think there will be at least 2 loads as he gets very funny about overloading it. His idea of overloading and mine dont coincide as what he means is I cant be bothered to put any more in and have to unload it..Have a good evening6

Lots of items/hobbies/storage etc dont need a bedroom (ie a room in the house). You could have a lovely 2 bedroom bungalow, easy to heat and keep clean and presentable for both of you to walk around safely. Smaller council tax and heating bills. Then garage and several huts for different needs out in the garden. Small sentry box type one for gardening tools, easy to access and too small to pile loads in. Meduim one. Larger one. Right up to huge ones. Cheaper, oblong shaped utilitarian ones for some needs and maybe a nicer cabin type ones with lovely doors and windows where you could keep 2 comfy garden chairs and a table to sit having a cuppa and a read on a sunny day. Another small one eager the house with electricity to keep your scooter.
Its easier to have several smaller spaces than one huge space that becomes crowded and hard to access the thing you want without moving 36 other things.
Your wishes count just as much as mr lh. (Especially since its your money that would be buying it!)
Well done clearing the garage. If it was me I'd want to just get on and finish the job and load the car up then tell him its time to drive to the tip!

Evening allNot been on here as very little has happened. Usual PO, shopping and housework. 3 loads of washing and a tiny bit of ironing done.Mr LHs old non working classic car has gone and we now have an empty garage waiting for him to find a new one when we get some money. I walked to the post box this morning to post the log book to DVLA. It was nice to have a purpose to my walk rather than just a random wander around the area.. I am keeping up with walking twice a day. The distance varies according to how I am feeling but I think it is doing me good.I dont know how long it will take to get my inheritance as the solicitor dealing with the estate is away until the 26th which is 11 days after the completion date. Very annoying as I have waited so long and I want to get the windows done before the weather gets colder. I dont know how long it will take him to wind the estate up but hopefully once the charities are paid I will get some money even if its an interim amount until he completes the accounts. There will also be an inheritance tax refund as the selling price was vastly over valued. We have had dd & sil visit last night and a couple of friends this afternoon. I have now run out of mugs until the dishwasher has done its job.We have made it to the tip but unfortunately the sliding door on the car jammed so I couldnt move the seats right forward to get a decent amount in the back. Mr LH had a melt down about it on our return and ended up kicking it in temper and now it seems to be working fine. All I need to do now is persuade him to go to the tip again.Thats my exciting few days. I hope you are all well and have a fgood weekend.5
