Quiet day - how unusual! I was going to do some stuff in the garden but it was so cold I decided not to. I did get the conservatory clean yesterday. You could tell I hadnt been in there over the winter except to leave the house. I think the cobwebs had cobwebs. One advantage of poor eyesight is that you dont see the dirt until you actually look for it. Read my book this morning (Nella  Lasts War - mentioned by someone on here). It very interesting and am enjoying it.
Usual dog walk after lunch but cut short as staffie x was limping a bit. Nothing serious I dont think just a bit achey with age.

Money wise I have cashed out £10 to paypay from survey and 4 ebay sales including the 2 from yesterday. All very small prices but better in my bank acount than someone elses.

Shopping list for this week started as I do some on Monday when I go to the post office  at S. and Al. and the rest on Tuesday when DH takes me in the car so I can get heavy stuff. Hoping Mr T has the dog food this week as it is cheaper there than Sain*****.
I hope people have had a good weekend.

Well done on the selling.  Every little bit helps - money in, unwanted good out.  Where do you sell your books?

They are all on ebay. I know this isnt the best place in general but when they do sell it is for more than the likes of Ziffit etc pay. I am actually gradually selling a 6ft x 3ft bookcase full of craft books that have come from my sister who died 3years ago. My BiL doesnt want them so is passing them on to me. I go and see him once a month ( a miserable 3 1/2 train journey with 2 changes  each way leaving home at 7am and getting back about 6pm assuming Southern rail havent cancelled the 1st train which delays the whole journey by over an hour and then train delay pay a miserable £4 compensation on a £32 fare because only that leg of the journey counts. Can you tell it annoys the heck out of me?). I am gradually bringing them home a suitcase part full  at a time. Only part full because otherwise it is too heavy for me to heave on and off the train. I reckon there are about 3 more trips before I get them all home. I have 5 plastic boxes of them at the moment but they are going albeit slowly.

Sorry Blackcats that was a long answer to a simple question Many of the books are quite specialist as she taught embroidery and loved trying new things. My sewing skills amount to Zilch especially now as I have difficulty seeing what I am doing so they are no use to me and it is BiLs way of helping us a little. He knows that I am selling them.

Thank you Lady Holly.  The books I'm thinking of selling were my mum's - some nice hardback craft books and history books.  I'd like to sell them and give the money to her favourite charity.  My mum died last year but I'd like to keep giving to her charity - she was a very kind lady.

I feel your pain on the train travel - southern are dreadful - I'm still scarred from arriving on many occasions at the station to see "delayed" on the board.  No announcements or clue to say how long the delay was.  This meant I missed my connecting train and if I had a booked seat on the next train then I just had to take my chances on the train I actually managed to catch.  This was travel for work so the final insult was having to do the walk of shame into the meeting as a late arrival.  Then of course the joy of the journey back home.

Thank you teaandcupcakesplease and foxgloves. Nice to hear from you. Today I joined gardeners world on line as I am trying to grow some of our veg. We only have a small garden and about 1/3 of is filled with a trailer tent which we arent sure how to get rid of. It sits at the back of the garage which although it has a back door the garage itself is full of aa classic car that cant/doesnt move - dont ask. The only way I can see of moving the thing is to dismantle it but it would be a huge job and neither of us is that fit. However I do have quite a few tubs, lots of flower pots and at the end of last year I bought a mini greenhouse so I live in hope. I should add that what I know about growing veg could be written on a postage stamp still nil desperandum I am sure we will get something.
@ladyholly classic carsc are following me round on MSE at the moment! My exh had a yen for them and while I know they're glorious, they are money pits and -in my experience which may not apply in every case- encourage spendiness beyond what is reasonable.   They can I think also put you in a fantasy world in general which doesn't help debt clearance.   I hope this isn't outrageous but could you sell it? Get the buyer to take it away too....

You have my sympathy with the trains at least I am travelling for leisure not work. They do give reasons where I catch the train but I sometimes think they make it up.  Ir has not happened on the outward journey - Yet. The major part of the journey is GWR who are usually pretty good.

If you decide to list you Mums book I always check whether  others are selling and how mucch for so I can judge a suitable price. There are a lot of companies selling books for less than the postage costs which iis partly what makes it so difficult.

Yay I sold a magazine overnight. This is one, my bank sends me as part of my account which costs me nothing. I dont read magazines at all so as soon as it arrives I list it straight away. Its another couple of £s to the loan and costs me nothing. So 5 packages to the P.O. this morning.

£18.00 sent to the loan account today. The money rom the magazine sale wont hit the account until tomorrow and I will leave that in their to join any mor sales this week. Most of my items end on a Sunday as going to the PO on Monday is convenient for me.

The excitrment for today is that I have at last got some seeds planted and in my mini greenhouse. I ended up doing it in the kitchen and clearing up the mess afterwards because it is still too cold for me out there. The sun is only just returning to my garden and then only on one side where the greenhouse is. I have no idea if they will grow. My gardening tends to be of the plant it, water it and hope for the best variety. Despite this I have had some success in the past with flowers I just hope it works with veg.

Shopping at Mr T this afternoon and I managed to get the sack of dog food at £19.50 instead of £22. It is £26.50 in Mr S so think I did quite well. Also got some savings on their clubcard deals and bought 9l of veg oil for the cars fuel tank. Dont try this at home - we have an old car which will run on a percentage of veg oil which is cheaper than diesel. (dont tell the chancellor.) DH reckons it has saved about £5. So although the bill was high there were savings.

Very quick one this morning as I am sitting having some breakfast before setting out at 7am for my monthly visit to BiL. Will hopefully be home about 6pm assuming Southern rail dont find an excuse to cancel the train I normally catch again. I have been awake since 4.15 after going to sleep after 1am. I never sleep well before travelling and now feel horrid. Will try to doze on the longest part of my journey. 2 changes on the journey which is a pain but I cant change it and even if we go by car it takes about the same amount of time.

I will be bringing some more craft books home to sell. I take an empty suitcase with me for them.and anything else BiL wants me to take.

Many thanks to Southern Rail and GWR as my trip went perfectly to time in fact I ws 2minutes early at my destination.
I have sold another book  so will post that in the morning and brought back some more to list over the next week or two. BiL says when I have finished that bookcase I can start on the others. I thinks there are about 9 bookcases to empty :open_mouth:   Not sure whats in them or whether they are saleable but if not the chaity shops may be doing well. I cannot throw books out unless threy are actually falling apart to much to read.

Fish and chips this evening as i never cook after my rail trips. Accidentally ordered a large battered sausage for DH instead of a small one so half wasted :#:smile:On the frugal side we share a portion of fish and chips so save with one hand and waste with the other.

Been thrown out of  a few surveys this pm so have given up as too tired to care so now going to settle down and cuddle dogs until it is time to walk them.
