Just catching up .... I think it's a good idea to apply for the benefit - if they say no, then you haven't lost anything.  If they say yes, then that's a bit extra £ for you to make life a bit more comfortable.
    Deliberately ignoring the maggots...
I hope your dog feels a bit brighter as it gets a bit cooler.

sorry about your friend's dog. I hope the situation can be improved,

I wish I could have ignored the maggots however there is no sign of them now and the wheelie bin is out for collectio tomorrow.

I have printed out the attendance allowance claim form and the guidance. Now all I need to do is fill it in which will take me a while as there is a lot of it.

Mr H seems ok today but is becoming more exercise averse. I havent seen the friend with the dog today so hope she is ok.

Money spent today but other tan Mr LHs cigarettes all essential spending. He would argue his ciggies are essential. Bothing elae for today as the little one is squeaking at me to have a walk in the rain.

Went into town today to get a big roll of bubble wrap and some other bits and pieces. Then a tiny bit of garden tidying. This afternoon  went shopping. B & * for some bamboo stakes so Mr LH can re make the nets which fit over the pond We have had cats who have ruined the existing ones, then to Mr T for groceries, THe queues were horrendous - half way down the aisles. Normally my shopping takes under half an hour but with the time I spent waiting to pay it was over, on to the vet to get flea and tick treatment for Mr H only to find they dont stock it and will have to order it. Our final shop was the dreaded pharmacy. Waited over 20 minutes to be serve to find that despite me ordering them over a week ago they hadnt been done, Not only that that they only had part of one lot of tablets and were fussing about not having all of one of the others as the GP had ordered 280 tablets and they come in bottles of 200. I pointed out that they have to be dispensed in the original bottle so I couldnt have an odd 80. Are these people trained at all? Anyway I was told there were two prescriptions to be dispensed ahead of me so I told them I would go in tomorrow when hopefully they will have been done. I was getting very tired by this point and my frozen stuff was defrosting. So tomorrow I will have to walk down there and I  will then get a taxi to my dd as it is her birthday. No buses that go the right way.

I have heard from the bridegroom and he says he understands us not attending the wedding but I havent heard from his Mother so I am not sure.

I have done a bit more on the attendance allowance form but think I will have to reprint a cuple of pages as I have done it wrong. Some of the information they want is ridiculous like how many times have I fallen in the last month (not a problem ) but they also want to know in the last year and the number of stumbles over the same time periods. I dont keep count strangely enough and I would be surprised if anyone else does.

Anyway thats enough yale of the trials and tribulations of ladyholly  for one night and My DD and I can have a good moaning session tomorrow. I might even get to see my youngest DGD if she isnt working or with her boyfriend. Goodnight all.

Forgot to say yesterday that when I served dinner Mr LH proudly says the TV may look a bit darker as I have put it into eco mode .(who knew there is such a thing?) I said great it al helps if only a little. Then he promptly put the light on as we didnt get as much light from the TV. :p

I hope you enjoyed your day with your DD and got to see DGD.

Your pharmacy sounds a nightmare.  Could you switch or get online deliveries instead?

Well done to Mr LH for making the effort, even if it did have unintended consequences :D

That made me smile about needing the light on to.mitigate the new TV eco-setting. The thought was there though, I suppose.

It made me laugh too. It will help though as we dont always have the light on with the TV.

I had a nice morning with my DD. Was an expensive trip though as I needed a taxi both ways so about £18 spent. Unfortunately she doesnt have a bus that goes near her house although it is only a couple of miles away it is just too far. The nearest bus stops about 1/4 mile away but even that is getting too much especially as I have to go over a railway bridge which is quite a haul up it. . Its very frustrating as they are so near yet so far. A couple of years ago I could visit regularly but not now. I am hoping that if I get the attendance allowance I can use some of it for taxis so I can get out a bit more. Even getting into town is a challenge as they have moved the bus stop further away from the High street.

I did see my dgd very briefly and sort of met her boyfriend who passed through the house just before I left. Apparently they are planning on finding a flat together. Not sure when as they will have to save for rent and deposit first.

Mr LH was planning on continuing with pond work but it rained quite heavily so that got put on hold. We have noticed with all the rain we have had the grass is recovering quite quickly.

I did collect my prescription today and asked when they would have the rest but the assistant didnt know. However they did ring me to say they werent expecting a delivery of it until the 31st October. I should have enough and I know there is a shortage of it. No its not HRT but I really dont understand all the drug shortages there are at the moment.

Had to nip to the PO to post a coupe of ebay sales unfortunately someone els hasnt received their parcel so have had to refund it and will chase it with Royal Mail.

I think thats my lot so happy Thursday for tomorrow.

Well recently there has been discussions on some MSE boards about possible power cuts this winter and being prepared for them. Last night we had chance to practice our readiness. Having just made a cup of tea after taking the dogs out for their last walk and watching the 10pm news we were suddenly plunged into darkness. Mr LH was actually in the bathroom. I grabbed our big lantern from its cupboard and took a torch to Mr LH. The street lights had gone as well so it was very dark.  Anyway I digress. Within 10m he had the LED light bar he made set up which gives really good light and runs off an old car battery which wont run the car but can do other things. I had put a candle into a pyrex dish so I had light to go to bed with. We then rang the power company - the one thing I hadnt done was put the number in my phone so had to find it in the phone book.

It just shows that being prepared is a good thing and saves a lot of stress. The power was only off for just over an hour but we coped fine. It was lucky I had just made a cup of tea or I would have been in the van to make one. If the power was off long term the kitchen unit in the van can be taken out and put in the conservatory for hot food and drinks.

Make sure you all think how you would cope in a power cut it saves a lot of stress and dont forget spare torch batteries and have them in a place you can find them in the dark.

Glad you managed ok.  We always make sure we've got plenty of torches and batteries lying around so they'd be easy to find.  We do have a stash of candles too if need be.  I want to get some more power banks so I can charge things,  DH has a good one for the car which we could use.  We've got a gas cooker so hopefully that would remain on.  It's interesting to hear other tips too.

MIA for a couple of days because on Thursday Mr LH decided we were cleaning out the pond. I spent a good time catching fish to move to their temporary home and them back again. Although I didnt do too much i was very tired afterwards and missedd my afternoon nap. Yesterday MrLH cleaned out the filters but there wasnt much I could do to help so was a quieter day  for me, still didnt get on here as a friend came round last night.

So whats been happening other than pond work? Well not a lot really but I have put another £10 into the loan account and had a couple of tiny sales which will mean there should be another £10 next week. On the debit side a parcel hasnt reached the recipient so I have had to refund them. I will claim frrom RM so will hopefully get the money back assuming they dont suddenly deliver it and the buyer doesnt send the money back to me.

Small gains - the TV is still on eco mode and we are trying not to put the light on too early, I am turning the cooker of before things are quite ready which saves a little electricity, I have started to charge my phone in the day so it isnt on all night and I can take it off charge as soon as the green light come on. Laundry in this house is always air dried as I dont have a tumble drier. Washing up is done once or twice a day dependining on how much there is - my kitchen is very small and too much fills the worktops so nothing can get done. I have also taken on board someones idea of when I have used a tea bag I put it in a cup ready forthe next tme. Up until now I have a saucer I put it on but as Mr LH goes on th same saucer and he takes sugar so I dont reuse it. Sounds silly but I can taste the sugar. I like my teafairly weak so can get at least two cups out of one bag whereas he likes his stronger so only one cup  from eacch bag. All tiny savings but hopefully they will mount up. I havent been out since Wednesday so no money spent. and wont be until Monday.

Fortunately we are still on a utilities fix but the time will come so good habits now will hopefully pay diveidends when the fix ends.

I can hear Mr LH leaving his bed so will finish as we will soon be takig the dogs out.
