Did I say I wasnt doing much today? I went out to put ta rubbish bag in the wheelie bin to find it crawling with maggots. Some kind soul had put a rather disgusting bag in there and whatever is in there has bred. Mr LH and I have spent the last three quarters of an hour cleanintg the bin and the bags that were in there and then double bagging them. This was all in the rain. I have left the bags in the garden so I can check them and the bin in the morning before they go back in. It hasnt done our energy consumption as we had to boil several kettles of water. Anyway in now and drying off.Went to Tes** this afternoon and spent more time in the queue than it toook me to do the shopping. I dont know why it was so busy.Poor Mr H isnt happy and his legs are definitely wobbly but hopefully as hs body gets used to the medication that will improve.Nothing else tonight as I am shattered now. Except two more books have sold so backto the PO tomorrow.Pleasant dreams .1

The maggot story continues as whatever is in the the bag (and quite honestly i dont want to investigate) is stinking and maggots are still crawling out of it. I have put the bag in a plastic box with water and bleach in it and put the lid on . I wouldnt mind but it stinks to high heaven. I think tomorrow i will have to be brave and investigate the bag. Then see what I can do to mitigate the stench. Any suggestions welcome. I darent put it in the wheelie bin as it isnt collected until next Tuesday.Posted the parcels this morning and bought some fish blood and bone for the garden. I read someone had reused compost in pots by adding it so thought it worth a try. It probably wont be used until next year but it wont run away and will no doubt cost more by then.Mr H seems a bit happier today although he is still a bit wobbly. Hopefully that will improve. That has made Mr LH a bit happier.Freezer defrosted today and that was a voyage of discovery. I dont think I will need any meat for a couple of weeks except Sunday roasts. I also found 5 boxes (the type takeaways come in) of last years blackberries so Mr H will be able to make his blackberry vodka for next years festivals and a bottle as a Christmas present for a friend which will go with the face cloths dogs I am making for her and her partner. I just have to get some ribbon and felt for the ears and nose. Oh and some googly eyes.A friend came round this afternoon so nothing else done and I misssed my nap so pretty tired tonightCan cash out £5 from a survey site tomorrow to go into paypal and found I had £10 more in paypal from surveys than I thought so that has gone to the loan account. I did some calculations yesterday and even without any extra payments we are on course to pay off the loan by the end of the year so I might manage it by November. It will depend on ebay sales. That it for tonight as I have witthered for long enough. Have a good evening.3

You've done the right thing putting the bag into a mix of bleach and water. If that doesn't work try boiling a kettle of water to pour over them - that should work!
Good luck with getting rid of them. Not sure whether that will help with the stench though.

I can’t believe someone would dump something so dire in your bin 😡 I would be tempted to double bag it and put it in a council waste bin that gets emptied more regularly than the wheelie bins. I dread to think what the bag contains.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

Snap! I was just going to suggest double-bagging & putting in a council waste bin, but @Sun_Addict beat me to it. I wouldn't open it, I think there will be something utterly revolting in there.

It's illegal to put domestic rubbish in a public waste bin - it is considered to be Fly Tipping! The fines just aren't worth it - up to £50K or 6 months imprisonment.

I am aware of that. There is quite a problem with fly tipping round here. What I am hoping is that it is just something like a rotting chicken carcass and I can kill all the maggots and dry it out in the sun then it can be disposed of properly. I cant take it to the tip as Mr LH would never have it in the car. We have no council waste bins round here only a couple of small poo bins which are only emptied once a week on Tuesday so no better than my wheelie bin.We have done the boiling water but when I open it there may still be some alive so I will have more ready.I am really looking forward to doing this but will report back later. I am not very good with dead things so I am hoping its not that but it wouldnt surprise me. I have the rubber gloves and rubbish bags at the ready.3

It's definitely flytipping to use a council bin, so not worth the risk.
I think you've done a good job already. I'd double bag what's left, really tightly tied if you can and just put it in your bin. I'd then bleach the hell out of the bin after collection on Tuesday."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". I wnt through it all today and nothing but normal household waste so I am not sure where the maggots came from. I have put boiling water over every bit of it and put it in a bag back in the box. It still smells despite the bleach and boiling water so will leave it there until Monday night as the bin lives next to our and our neighbours car. I have already gone through almost a full bottle of bleach so will have to replace it next week. At least there was nothing dead in there. Can you get locks for wheelie binsI have made a start on giving the kitchen a good clean. It will take me a while but hopefully it will look a lot better when its done. I have also put the rest of MR LHs camping stuff in the garage where it belongs. I have to do it because he cant open the garage door.We have reluctantly made the decision not to go to our friends sons wedding in October because of Mr Hs failing back legs. It isnt fair to put him in kennels either on him or on the kennel staff to care for him. . He now takes more tablets than me. We dont know how long we will have him for but dont want him to feel abandoned. He was a rescue and had been left at a very unpleasant rescue where he was very unhappy so I dont want that for him again thinking we dont want him. Yes I can anthropomorphise with the best of them.
Mr LH has gone to bed with a migraine so I am now going to find something to eat.
Happy evening.

Glad there was nothing too revolting in the bag, and well done for being brave enough to look through!
