I am annoyed this morning. I don't know what others think but let me explain. Since the women's football team won the euro on Sunday all the media have gone into overdrive about their achievement.  While not taking anything from them I can only think about all those other women who have struggled o failed to gain recognition in their chosen field. Artists, engineers,  scientist, writers etc who are either forgotten or unknown.  Who knew that it was brunel wife who solved some of the problems of building the Bristol suspension ? I didn't until recently and there are many many more example of a lack of recognition or simply being written out of history. Yes the team did brilliantly but let us not forget all the other unknown women who have achieved amazing thing

Sorry for the rant but i had to get it off my chest.
I think we should just celebrate all achievement. Male or Female.
The media hype is because England won a football tournament.

Is it just me or is anyone else sick of the Beebs obsession with sport to the detriment of other programmes. If you complain you get a pointless message back telling you this event is only once a year or every 4 years or whatever. I dont mind some sports fans are entitled to see it but it goes into saturation mode. By the time the Commonwealth games have ended we will have had a month os various sports taking over frequently BBC 1 & 2. Then there is cricket, rugby etc. I do think its time BBC have a dedicated sports channel. For anyone about to complain at me how would you feel if you had a montth of documentaries, or comedies. TV should be varied to appeal to everyone. I am seriosly considering counting up how much sport there is over a year ont he two main channels and seeing if its as much as I think it is.

You will be pleased to hear thats the end of my complaints. Quiet morning to build my energy for the trip to my BiL tomorrow. This afternoon I went to Sains*** as Mr LH decided he had to unblock the sink in the car today. I turne out to be largely dog hair- it really does get everywhere. :D:smiley: Not a no spend day today but I have spent a lot less than if we had gone on our usual shopping trip.

We have ordered a small folding stool to help Mr H get in the car as he is sometimes having trouble. He has started his new tablets and does seem a bit better today but it is too soon to tell really.

Mr LH is a happy man as a friend who is helping an elderly lady clear her house has given him some whisky liqueur. The old lady was pouring down the sink!! :o That is sacrilege to him.

Another cucumber picked. I am getting a lot of satisfaction from the little bit of veg I have grown.

I had a letter from the hospital today cancelling the appointment on Friday and remaking it for the 1st of September which is the day I am at the theatre so rang to r and they will have to refer it to the clinic as it is a new appointment. I also had a phone call from the GP. The hospital wontt let him book a head scan as they consider it an emergency so I will have to go to A & E. It a joke as it is now over a month since I banged my head so as our A & E is closed at night which makes it even busier during the day I am leaving it until Thursday and going as soon as they open. I really dont have the patience to sit there for hours for something that should have been dealt with at the time.

I think I have drivelled on long enough so will say goodnight, have a peaceful one.

I’m not a sports fan and it being constantly on TV drives me nuts. Definitely need a dedicated channel. Dreading the World Cup at Christmas 😩

What a faff with the head scan!

I found the coverage of Wimbledon very annoying - starting on BBC1, switching to BBC2 part way through a match and then back again to BBC1.  It messed up my scheduled recordings!  The most annoying was when I was really enjoying a Nadal match and the BBC stopped showing it to show another match just because one of the players in the other game was ranting and behaving v badly.

Glad I havent offended too many people re the sport rant.
Very tired tonight as it has been a long day after a lousy nights sleep or perhaps that should be lack of sleep. Tomorrow will be another early start so I get to the hospital as soon as possible after they open at 8am. The main reason is the little one has her tablets as soon as I get up and then I have to wait an hour before she can have breakfast and then she will want to go out. having already been out after her tablets so I have to allow about an hour and a half for faffing about with her.

Today has been a bit stressful as most of the trains have been a few minutes late and it was touch and go whether I would make the connections but other than getting home about 20minutes late all worked out.

No spending other than train fare and a portion of fishe and cjhips between Mr LH and I. Thats all for tonight. Slleep well. I think I will.

Still very tired today but I was up early again to get to the hospital for 8am. Scan was done and all is fine. Thank goodness. I just have to take it easy (I always do), continue with the paracetamol and get back to the GP if it gets worse.

Posted an ebay sale that was done yesterday and popped into Mr T for a couple of bits that only they have. I have slept for most of the afternoon but cant wait to go to bed tonight.

    Good morning

I am Feeling a bit more like me this morning so I think I am gradually catching up on my sleep. Part of the problem is the heat wipes me out so I am incapable of doing anything plus 2  5.30 am starts to the day when I dont go to sleep before 11.30pm and if I try I end up waking in the night and am unable to get back to sleep.

This months moneysaving is not going well at all. I had to take the little one to vet yesterday with a poorly tummy. I dont usually bother too much but without wishing to be too descriptive here the situation is liquid. Another £68.00 Paid to vets. She actually had an appointment for her kennel cough vaccine but they wouldnt do it as she wasnt well so we are back on Tuesday for that - more money, In addition MrLH is away next week so more food that I wouldnt normally buy plus his alcohol and I have 2 birthdays in the next couple of weeks.
It sall very depressing at the moment.

On the brighter side there a more cucumbers on there way and the tomatoes are starting to ripen. Our water board says that despite having had virtually no rain for weeks they are not planning on hosepipe bans although they are asking people to be a little more cautious with their usage. In that spirit I emptied the breakfast / lunch washing up water into the watering can to use when the sun had gone off the garden .only to find the dog had knocked it over so there was only a tiny bit left.

I am now going to check the bank account to do some moving money around and the list some of the books I borought back on Wed from my BiL on ebay. Have a good day everyone.

No hosepipe ban here yet, @ladyholly, but as we do need to water our veg garden so as not to lose food, I'm trying to save water elsewhere. I've been bailing out bathwater in the lighter of our two watering cans (it's heavy work & I have arthritis in my hands) & using it on flower beds & containers. It seems to be helping anyway. It's going to be 30° here next week (from Weds, I think) so even grey water is going to be gratefully guzzled by our plants.
Re temperature.....I am ok up to 26°, then I'm done!
