I just jot any bin collections I'm likely to forget in my diary....a calendar would work just as well - just a 'B' for the brown garden waste bin & 'G' for the glass bin. The dates are all set out on the local district council website - searchable by postcode.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will have to work something out and hope I dont miss one. I am not a very organised person and rarely look at my calendar. In fact I have only just changed it to March. I think my main reminder will be what my neighbours are doing which will work as long as theykeep rubbish and recycling to the same days. I continually forget the green bin since they chaged it to a different day. Note to self - be mnore organised.1

I was going to suggest you keep an eye on what bins the neighbours are putting out. We're still 2 weekly for both recycling and general waste; garden waste goes out on the same day as the general waste. I just move the bin which will be going out the following week closest to the front lawn and then put the newly emptied bin into the space previously occupied. Hope that makes sense it does to me! Garden waste bin just stays in the same place and gets put out when the general waste goes out.

My bin collections have a 6 week cycle. There is no way I would remember that & many neighbours only put the recycling bins out occasionally. Like Sun_Addict our council send email reminders although mine come 24 hours before. I found out from our council's website.2

I have the email reminder too, but mostly rely on when the neighbours are putting theirs out. Some of my neighbours are very prompt and put the bins out nearly a day ahead of collection and take their bins back in moments after the dustmen have put the bin back.2

I am hoping our council may use an email reminder system but I am not too hopeful. From what they have said there are to be a number of changes but have only said later this spring. I might email them and request that they do provide reminders.1
