I think Bear was hoping the freedom would last much longer. Once he has had enough he comes back quite easily but until then he completely igores us no matter what incentive we use. This is why he cannot be let off lead except in the secure field. He can also be agressive to other dogs so we have to retrieve him asap.

It sounds as though Bear didn't go through much effective training before he came to you. It must be quite a lot more difficult when you don't have the dog from a very young age. It did make me smile though, thinking of him naughtily sticking to what he wants to do, until he'a decided he's had enough. What a rascal!

This is all dog so if you arent interested please skip.

When Bear was imported into the country at about 5years old his previous owners described him as feral. Unfortunately they had never had a dog before and although they employed a very well qualified behaviourist and did their best they struggled hence the re homing to us. We think he was never socialised as a pup let alone have any training and with no real eveidence except his behaviour think he may have been kept chained up on his own. He is certainly a very fearful dog and will attack.

He is an angel in the house but when outside he becomes super alert to anything and everything to the point he simply doesnt hear us. He isnt even really interested in toys or treats. We are making very slow progress on his lead walking but he can be very unpredictable which makes working on socialising him very hard. He does have some dogs he likes or ignores but many scare him to the point he will try to attack them. One or two other owner havent helped by letting their dogs approach him at high speed and in one case the dog bit him. Most owners here are very good and understand his problems and dont take offence when I walk away from them and some will even change their route to avoid us.

The owners that irritate me most are the ones when we move away from them or or wait away from they respond "its ok he/she is friendly". My retort is yes but he isnt always. I then get a shocked look and you can see them thinking you should train your dog. If only it was that simple.

    Evening all
Not a productive day but a very expensive one. The boarding up of the house has been paid for and the cctv cameras have been installed at the house by neighbour and they have been paid for another £250. At least those can be relocated to our house when the house is finally sold.

The land agent has received email confirmation that the dig is starting on Monday and they hope to have some preliminary results by the 21st although the dig will take 2 weeks in total barring bad weather. At least then I will know if the sale will complete.

Mr LHs stuff has all been put away now and some basic cleaning done.

Mr LHs knee is improving or at least he isnt complaining about it as much.

Nothing else to report today. Have a good evening.

    Evening all

Nothing exciting to report for either yesterday or today. I have put away the washing I did yesterday. Posted two parcels from things that sold yesterday and have one not paid for. Hopefully it will be as its something that has been listed for a while.

Very pleased with myself as I did a 10 minute walking exercise routine. I know that isnt much but for someone who does very little physical other than walking Bear morning and evening it was like climbing a mountain. Hopefully I will be able to continue doing it and even do more though thats going to take time as I was very breathless by the end I could walk Bear further but the way he pulls that would be very hard work so hoping this will help me be able to do that,

Bear had a lovely run in the secure field and even brought his ball back occasionally and on one or two occasions even responded to a recall. He particularly enjoyed paddling in a wet mud puddle although have having his paws and legs wiped before he got in the car was not popular.

The cameras at my bils house are now up and running and we can see if there is someone there I believe it alerts us as well. It apparently records if anyone approaches the house so if there are any incidents we will have evidence for the police.

I have transferred a whole 70p to round down our main account to the Christmas pot. I am trying to remeber to do it regularly.

Recycling and bin out for collection tomorrow. I am dreading it going to 3 weekly as I know I will have trouble remebering which week we are on. This will be happening later on this spring according to the council website.

Thats my exciting day. Have a good evening.

Great work with the exercise, Bear exercise, sales, and cameras. And on the 70p to Christmas pot, it all adds up!
