Evening allYesterday was a bit of a nightmare for Mr Lh as the flatbed turned up 3 hours late and the train was late so instead of arriving home late morning it was about 5.30pm. The doors are supposed to have been boarded today but I havent heard anything yet so am hoping it has been done. I have no doubt the bill will arrive promptly. The water and council tax bills have arrived. Council tax up from £1700 to £1820 for the year and came with a nice glossy leaflet telling us that general waste collections are going to every 3 weeks. The water has gone up from £680 to £821 per year. I am going to investigate a water meter but we want to clean the pond out first. We will have a couple of years to change our mind if it works out more expensive. The pond wont get done until the weather is somewhat warmer as we are wimps for cold water but will try to get it done soon.I have had a very small sale which will be posted in the morning along with a form from my solicitor for a financial company who are being very difficult paying out the investment my bil had with them and neede another form signing.
I emailed the land aget and indeed the dig is due to start on Monday but he hasnt had email confirmation yet but they have said it is. Keep your fingers crossed for deep pipes. However ther have been so so many problems one way and another I cant believe that all with be good with this. The car has been repaired and is home but the car pot is £270 poorer but thats what its there for. While we were unloading the car fro all the stuff mr LH had taken with him Bear escaped becaused someone left the door open again. Not me. I grabbed the scooter and went straight to the park where we exercise him and yes he was there but wouldnt come and disappeared back towards the house not that I think he was heading home. Unfortunately for him Mr LH wa just at the end of the path and managed to grab a leg in a rugby tackle move. I came round the end of some trees and mr LH was lying on the ground try to get a lead on him. Mr LH hurt a knee but nothing serious. Bear looked very pleased with himself on the short walk home.I think thats enough excitement for today so have a good evening.4 -
Oh yes I forgot to say I had an emeil from someone who knew my bil and saw our van his drive and questioned Mr LH who was very very non comittal about things. She was concerned in case he was up to no good so emailed me to ensure all was ok. I was pleased that someone was so concerned they would go to the trouble of getting in touch.2

What a day! Glad Mr LH and Bear are back safe, and fingers crossed the dig starts on Monday and all is okay, and the water meter, sale, and financial company things all go smoothly. And give yourself a big pat on the back for being able to take the money out of the car pot3

Sounds like you've had an adventure, one you'd rather not have had! I suppose life would be boring without a few challenges along the way but glad you're all safe and sound. I was just looking at your bill increases what a shocker!!!
I honestly think when any government produces a figure for the rate of inflation they lie to us and I'm not being political because we don't do politics on the forum hence I say any government past, present or future! I'm so grateful I've made it to this forum and although I have my own diary and don't really add to it but the most important thing is I am attacking my debt and cutting my outgoings drastically and much happier in my mental space.
I've had my LBM and the journey has commenced and thanks for posting about the bill increases and of course I am aware but it is a constant reminder to spend less than I earn and to be creative with cost cutting.
I am approaching my debt via the avalanche method and the biggest one is actually the smallest because it has the highest interest rate but was the lesser of my borrowings so actually it's a avalanche fused with a snowball haha
It's with Monzo it's a shame I can't switch the others across but would make no sense because the interest rates on borrowing is high but what I will say it's an incredible app for borrowing because it's so crystal clear and it's actually motivating to smash the debt. My dopamine hit used to be buying rubbish but now my dopamine hit comes from seeing the interest I've saved and the debt reduced. Again thanks for your diary and the reminder of rising costs because goodness knows where I would be and other forum users without it. It is very powerful in getting to that DFD day and finally investing but certainly it is speeding up the journey.
Have a lovely day and hugs to bear!!! My fur ball is snoring away whilst I type this lol5 -
Hope today is an improvement on yesterday. What a nightmare, glad Mr LH managed to catch Bear relatively unscathed. Sending positive vibes for something good to happen now 🙏I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3

Oh my giddy aunt....Bear just saw his opportunity & went for it, didn't he? Thank goodness Mr LH managed to rugby tackle him. Hope knee not too bad today. Good thinking too that he'd have hot-footed it to the park.

Evening all.A much more peaceful day today. PO trip today to post my tiny sale and the form for the solicitor then finished the main shop for the week. It seemed a bit mean to ask Mr LH so it has been piled onto the scooter.I have put most of the stuff away that Mr LH took with him. Yes I know he should do it himself but firstly he doesnt know where half of it goes and secondly it would all still be in the conservatory at Christmas. His knee and elbow are both still sore after his rugby tackle yesterday but at least Bear hasnt made a bid for freedom today. I have booked him into the enclosed field for Monday and we are hoping it has dried out as it gets very muddy in the winter. This will be his first trip out there for months. The problem with mr LH falling is that he has no kneecap on his left leg due to a car accident just before I met him. This was courtesy of a drunk driver on the wrong side of the road going round a blind bend. The bill for the boarding has arrived which was £220 which I didnt think was too bad bearing in mid there are three doors, wide patio windows and he has screwed the front gate shut. Hopefully this will keep the house secure. The vandal have certainly cost us a fair bit of money.I have also had a quote for the 2 window replacements which is £350 for single glazing or £780 for double glazing. The old windows were single glazed. The estate agent has suggested leaving it now the house is boarded and the purchaser will be doing renovations anyway. I have asked her to get in touch with the purchaser to see if he wants us to replace the windows or not bearing this in mind. I am hoping they are ok with this even if we have to knock a bit off the price.I seem to have seemed most of the last few day either on email or the phone.I think that sums up today. Have a good evening.5
