Yes it is the friend with the son in hospital. He is doing ok and has been transferred to our local hospital. I don't know when he will be out but even having survived is a miracle.
Bear is fine today thank you. It's a bit like children poorly one day and bouncing the next. Mr lh is being a man I.e. nobody has been as ill as him. 🙂
2 loads of washing done today and hung up to dry. Christmas has got here with the decorations now up not that I do much but it does look a little festive.
No roast for dinner this evening g as it would be wasted with him not eating much so pork chops it is.
I know my bil will be disappointed but mr lh simply cant/ wont walk Bear yet. To be fair the pulled muscles in his chest are still bothering him and If bear spots a cat and yanks I am not sure he could hold him
I am now heading to the attic to look for the box that has the bits I use to do table decks in it.

Thank you jwil.
Had coffee and a batter with my Scottish friend at the celestial dollar place in our local mr s. Was quite shocked at over £6 for a week late and a cup of tea that was more fortnight than week. I rarely have cafe visits so am totally out of touch but the quality was dreadful. Another friend visited this afternoon and has totally exhausted mr lh. He has gone to bed. Mind telling him how ill he looks didn't help
I got the money from the cash point for dd & dgds so will sort that into cards for delivery. All budgeted for so pleased with that. Nothing else spent other than the drinks. Big Christmas shop tomorrow but don't need a huge amount other than alcohol. It will be another taxi home. I think I am keeping the company going at the moment but mr lh really isn't fit to drive and wait in the cold for me. That will just leave a bit of fresh stuff on Friday. I am not planning on facing the weekend service on the buses although I will have to next week as they are Saturday service all week.
Cheap meal tonight. Soup for mr lh and a sausage sandwich for me. Making a table decoration tomorrow and that will finish the decorations.
On Thursday we have the police home security guy coming to advise if we need to do anything more. Any work they do is free so worth checking out.
I think I have drivelled on for long enoughso will end here.6 -
Plenty of alcohol and a bag of parsnips is all you need for a good Christmas 😆
Thanks for the heads up re the police security. We got a couple of smoke alarms supplied and fitted for free from the fire brigade last year.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4 -
I am hoping to get away with a last shop on Thursday. Last Friday it took longer to get out of the car park than to do the shop. 30 minutes!! Life is too short for that again. Even the local village car park was totally jammed last Wednesday, it is quite large & the first time I have ever seen that & I have been here over 30 years. It does help that the local councillor lives near there & then there are the road repairs that finish immediately after where another councillor turns off the main road.

The end of the road repairs must be coincidence surely?2 -
Busy couple of days but just getting last minute bits from Mr S tomorrow and thats it. Presents wrapped and will be delivered on Saturday, decorations finished, the big shop done yesterday. I spent this morning making five and a half mince pies for family and friends. It takes a while as I have a small oven and can only bake two trays at a time. and due to silly hands can only make a pound of pastry at a time. Anyway they are done. Brandy butter for family to be done on Friday for Saturday delivery.Mr lh is much better but feeling weak and tired however he managed to replace a pipe to the pond filter yesterday where Bear had split it by standing on it. (It was very old) and he has changed the oil in the car today. Shame he spilt a load on the paving blocks in the garden so I have cleaned it as best I can and when the weather is better the pressure washer will come out.Surveys done and another £5 in paypal. My dinner tonight was beans (the remains of a can I opened a day or two back) and mr lh had sausge egg and chips so not too much cooking done. Meter readings sent to the utility company and I have finished watching Vigil. Excellent watch if you like that kind of thing. I am now off to carry on with traditional read of a Christmas carol.2

I love Christmas Carol, it’s one of the few books I re-read time and time again, others being Rebecca, Wuthering Heights and Tess of the d’Urbervilles.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3

I love A Christmas Carol as well, and will try and re-read it again before Christmas."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2
